Recommend a good carry pistol...

Can someone recommend me a good carry pistol? I am looking for something about the size of a Glock 19, but something that is not polymer if I can keep from it. I really like Glocks but I want to try something different. the reason it needs to be that size is because I am only about 5'10" 180-185 pounds so I am not exactly a huge guy and I want to be able to carry this comfortably and concealed as well as possible. I have some bigger stuff like a Sig P220 but that thing is huge and there is no way I can carry that concealed. Thanks for the help.
 
You can hide nearly anything with a properly designed and made holster and belt. That 220 concealed on your frame is entirely possible.

But if you want a metal 9mm the size of a G19 or smaller, consider the S&W 3913 or 3914 and their variants.

Also consider the Kahr K-9
 
I will check them out. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Got any suggestions on holsters then for the Sig P220? I would like to give it a shot before getting another pistol but I assumed I would not be able to carry it comfortably or with ease since it is pretty large.
 
Look at Crossbreed holsters and Beltman gun belts. They make great stuff and it is definitely worth the price! The 220 should conceal easily with that setup after a little bit of playing to find exactly the best spot on your hip.

If you want something a bit smaller and like Sigs, take a look at the 228 and 229. It is roughly the size of the 220 (though maybe a tad bit wider) with a half inch shorter barrel/slide and a little bit off the bottom of the grip. It's in the same size range as the G19. I'm 6'0" 165 lbs and using a crossbreed and Beltman belt, I can conceal really well even under a light Tshirt.
 
Like Sigs? Maybe try the P239, single stack available in 9mm, .40, or .357Sig. Easy to shoot AND carry, a nice combo.
 
I recommend this all the time and others before me have already, but check out a 3rd gen S&W semiauto. Great reliable guns that almost every LEA used before the tupperware craze. I have a 6904 and it conceals fine for me and I'm an inch taller than you and 30 lbs lighter. You can find these for under $300 also.
 
If you want a good holster that will let you carry the P220, give the Raven Concealment Phantom Modular Holster a try. I used one of these in IWB configuration to carry an M9A1 while deployed. They have a bit of a lead and they run around 70-$100, but they are excellent, and can be converted to OWB in just seconds...so it's really 2 holsters in 1. And for what it is worth, I am not associated with the Company nor receive any kickbacks from them, just a very happy customer.
 
CZ 75 P-01 is about the same size as the G19 it has an alloy frame and IIRC it's only about 6 oz heavier than the G19.

CZ 75 Compact has a steel frame.

CZ 2075 RAMI also has an alloy frame and carries 10 rounds of 9mm.
 
If you like the Glock 19, I'd consider a Glock 26, for sure. If this is going to be an EDC piece, consider that you should stick with what works for you.

I've heard good things about the CZ.

Kahrs are wonderfully concealable and reliable (especially the stainless steel ones), but the trigger is very different vs. the Glock. However, I found that even though it was butter smooth, I could not get a level of comfort with a trigger that didn't have a crisp break point. They also lose a bit in terms of ammo capacity versus the Glock because they are single stack. I ended up trading my Kahr MK9 for a Glock.

I used to have an EMP and loved carrying it, but found that I could not count on it for reliability. Search around for feedback on that, they have had a lot of problems.
 
+1 for the CZ PCR....its almost the same dimensions as the S&W 3913 and holds almost twice as many rounds.
 
Another vote for the CZ-75D PCR. It is my daily carry, and has been foir many years. Reliable, acccurate, 15 round capacity in a relatively small package. The lightweigh alloy frame also helps to keep the weight down.
 
Take a look at the FNP, I got a lightly used one for a great price and it shoots good.
