Recently, I found a lightly used Uberti Walker Colt at a pawn shop. The gun has been fitted with a Kirst Cartridge Converter. Because I don't have a place to shoot outside close by, I'd like to try it out using smokeless 45 colt loads with the Kirst cylinder.
Here's what I had in mind... A 180 or 200 grain soft lead bullet, with about 5.5 to 6.0 grains of Trailboss (light load per IMRs website). Does this sound reasonable?
Also, what bullet size should I use for best accuracy? I thought I recall some saying a bullet dia. of .454 is preferred, but most bullets I've seen are .452. If .454 is preferred, where are some good places to buy these?
I also have some old Hornady 255 grain lead cowboy bullets but they don't have a lube ring, but rather are knurled with a light wax lube coating. Thoughts on loading these for the Walker?
Thanks everyone.
