Recommendation for CCW/Jogging

My wife is a runner and has found the gun needs to be tight to your body, as light as possible and will be soaked with sweat after the run. She uses a kahr p380 but a keltec in 32 or 380 would be a better choice. Wipe it off and hose it down when your done and not worry about ruining a 700 dollar gun. Any revolver will have a tendency to "wobble" as she runs. Belly band will work but there are many good quality packs that do work well.

I had thought about the Kel-Tec P3AT as well but think the Ruger LCP has the edge in fit and finish. Good point raised about the sweat on an expensive gun because we were also considering the Sig P238.

A female friend of mine jogs with an LCP. She uses a belt clip to hold it onto the waistband of her shorts. One word of caution if you do it that way: Be rigorous with your cleaning regimen. Her pistol developed quite a bit of rust in a very short time before she learned that lesson.

"I am getting into cycling and these packs seem to be the best for carrying while running or biking

Uh...$85 seems a little heavy to me for that. Secondly, I would want that on my chest while riding, too hot. Weight should be down around the hips in the back.

I ride 20-30 miles on my bike nearly every day during warmer weather for the last 10+ years. I use a fanny pack made to hold a Walkman Disc Player. It cost me a whole dollar at a garage sale and I've been using it for 5+ years. Perfect size for my LC9 or KelTec P11 or Charter Arms Off Duty .38 and a few things like my phone, and music player. Probably not good for jogging but it works for bike riding. Another option, at least for bike riding is a Walkman Cassette Player case. It is what I used before stepping up to the disc player case.

The Disc Player case has two main padded pockets, a outer mesh pocket and two sectioned side pockets with internal velcro straps. I can carry a pistol, ID, money, small FAK, SAK, IPOD Touch, etc in it, no one pays attention to it particularly with ear phones coming out of it.

For running, a KelTec P32 in a belly band or tight belly pack would be good.

Update.

Well my daughter decided on the S&W M&P40 Shield. I really thought, based on research and comments on this forum, that the Ruger LCP would have followed us home. She handled several models including the LCP, LC380 and BG380 but felt most comfortable with the M&P40. They even had a Sig P238, but she liked the Shield the most, and after numerous suggestions of, "are you sure?", she was. So out came my credit card and, after completing the necessary paperwork in my name, she walks out with a new toy! And boy what a softie I am! I was going to let her buy her own ammo (Blazzer, 250 rd brick) but relented and put that on my tab as well. I hope she likes it and I sure hope that I get a chance to shoot it when we go visit her the next time! I still think the LCP would be better for when she's out running, but as a EDC and something around the house, this isn't bad. Time will tell. After all, who said you could only have one pistol!

I would suggest the S&W Shield in 9mm in either a belly band or pistol wear holster.

Hometeached1, you were right! She actually picked the 9mm initially until the clerk came back offered her the choice between the 9 or .40. Size was the same only with a little more punch.
