I'm looking for a recommendation for a double rifle case. It's primarily going to be used for transporting a Tikka T3 Hunter and a Colt Competition AR 15 - both scoped. I've seen a number of tactical soft cases that are meant for two rifles, but I wondered if the internal straps would rough up the finish on the Tikka (they mostly seem to be for tactical rifles). All of the hard cases I've seen just didn't seem quite large enough.

Anyway, I'm open for suggestions. Oh, and other pockets for accessories would be nice, but not a must. I have a separate range back for those things. Thanks.

I have one, it's a locking hard case, really nice. When I go to the range I strap two scoped hunting rifles in it, they fit good, and the straps are soft and don't damage the finishes at all.

It's a good 15 yrs, old, and back then it was about $120, but I'm pretty sure some of the less expensive one's would serve the purpose.

My advice would be to fogadabout it.

Two rifles and scopes that heavy, plus mags, ammo, etc, will end up being too heavy to carry from the house to the car.
Let alone anywhere else.

If you want a shipping container for two rifles, the Pelican cases are very good.

But single rifles cases devoted to the rifles& accessories inside them will be the prudent choice every time.
Then, you won't be banging one on the other one every time you pick one up after laying the other one down on top of it.

Cases...

I'm not sure what your needs or budget requirements are but here are a few sources to check;
www.blackhawk.com www.cabelas.com www.uscav.com www.policehq.com www.5.11tactical.com www.brownells.com www.csmgear.com www.galls.com www.deltaforce.com .

Blackhawk is a VA Beach based firm that was started by a former US Navy SEAL.
They have a few single & double rifle cases. They have a "discreet" design too.

As noted the Pelican cases are impressive. Seahorse has gun cases too but that brand isn't as well known as Pelican.

I have a Bulldog tactical double rifle soft case. It was cheap and it's waterresistant with side pockets. The material, zippers, and straps are surprisingly durable for the price ($40 or $50 if I recall). I carry heavy rifles in it and it shows no sign or strain or wear. It does not damage my rifles and it has plenty of room for bulky guns.

I would also look into Plano double rifle hard cases. The are almost as good as Pelican cases at a faction of the cost. I love mine.

Plano case....

I recently got a new handgun case from Bass Pro Shop, Plano model.
The back section warps & has problems closing. It didn't fall on a hard surface or get any abuse either.
The Plano foam liner had these weird pin size holes in the fabric too, .
The gun case was on sale but I may return it to Bass Pro.
I liked the older 1980s/1990s style from Docosil with the side latches & locks but I can't seem to obtain the older version.
The newer Plano cases are stackable but I wouldn't buy them again. I'm going to stick with Bore-Store bags & soft/nylon gear bags rather than plastic(that warps & cracks).
I purchased a 5.11 silver/grey DE pistol case last summer but it was lame. One cheap handle & no gun-surface protection.
I returned it w/o even using it once.

Sorry to hear about your luck on Plano, I have always had good success. Do you remember what model it was?

I have the "10-10586 SE Double Scoped Rifle/Shotgun Case" that cost $20. It flexes and isn't too rugged, but it was cheap and for range trips.

I have also had success with the "108421 All Weather™ Rifle Case". Cost around $60 and is a Pelican knockoff for about $100 less.

Pelican makes just about the best there is - the military, high-end photographers, and lots of others rely on them to keep delicate things from getting broken by the airline gorillas - one should fit your needs nicely

Pelican cases....

My friend works in the film/TV industry and travels often. He uses several Pelican cases for his DV cameras, gear, etc. He got into the "drone" stuff too and has a big Pelican case for his beloved "Quad-Copter".

I don't own any of the Pelican line but I do like the safety orange color cases.
I like the brighter colors like orange, yellow or red because they stand out, are easy to see quickly.
