I got a Bushmaster .308 ORC and currently got a Leupold VX3 in 3x9x40 on it, thinking about going to a red dot, holo type sights. will that limit my range as compared to shooting with a regular optics. Will my accuracy be less at say 300 yards. Not too familiar with red dots. Thanks.

I put a Trijicon RX-30 on my AR-10 and it's one of my favorites.

Accurate to 250-300 yards with the non magnified optic, and yes, the groups open as the range increases, but for snap shooting it's perfect for me.

Depends on what you mean by limit?

At 300 yards with the Leupold mark 4 6.5-20x50mm on my LR308 I can make easy head shots, I'm pretty sure it would be much harder with a red dot and no magnification.

Run a dual optic. My soon-to-be-SBR 12.5" pistol with Nikon P-223 Scope & Bushnell First Strike MRDS:

UTG QD scope mount with picatinny caps, custom milled piece of picatinny blank affixed to front ring with 3-48 machine screws.
