Which EOTech Holographic Sight

My Eotech XPS is far better than all the previous Eo's. 1st clean slate design since L3 took over, and it's a home run.

It's even more reliable than my Aimpoint, and a hair faster. But the single dot Aimpoint is far more accurate If I can't find my glasses in the dark. Yes, I have tried a night shoothouse nearsighted. Without my glasses/contactsthe AP is a blurry squid dot, the EO is a giant 70moa basketball. Still fair for CQB defense.

Only thing that stinks is that you have to turn it on when you pick up the rifle. My Aimpoint has been on non-stop for years now. I wish Eotech would add a board to the sight that turns it on when it hears or feels the charging handle get pulled. (like a sound activated paintball hopper)

From Optics Planet. Not currently in stock. No big hurry. Price was right.
Please no Optics Planet commentary. :banghead:

I fail to see an advantage for having your RDS on for months to years at a time. If the extra one second it takes to turn your sight on is going to change the outcome of attack than the fight is probably close-quarters and point shooting without any sights would be best.

If the shot you need is distance (as in you have time to line the sights) than you can afford to take the time to turn on your sight, or take the safety off, or chamber a round etc. If you know you are in imminent danger or going into a NPE than a 4 or 8 hr timeframe on a Eotech is doable. SOCOM manages to do it effectively with their Eotechs.

I just fail to see the practical advantage for a civie to have your RDS on for months on end for home defense.

For the T1 it is measured in years even with constant use.

Oh I don't doubt that at all. Was just using my example of just over a year.

You can't go wrong with Aimpoint or Eotech XPS models (other than battery life).

I agree

If i need at weapon that fast, i am grabbing my pistol.

I just click the up button on my XPS before going to bed. Then it's on all night. Every second counts.

It only comes out on stormy nights that bring out all the weirdos. Full moons as well.:scrutiny:

I've read a crap ton of comments and reviews from eotech owners about batteries going dead when it is least expected. These observations have led to me thinking that the advertised/quoted battery life of an eotech is to be taken with a grain of salt. That is an advantage to the aimpoint, to me. + I like having to do nothing more than flip the safety off to be fully ready to go. Your opinion may differ. But that's where I am coming from on the battery issue.

Aimpoint Pro arrived yesterday. Optics Planet said two to four weeks. It was about two.
On to the BCM it's going.

Of course. Keep your shorts on. :neener: it's going to be a few days so I can work to buy more firearms.
Actually I need some glass for an AR10 next.

I am sure many will disagree, but I had 2 EoTech 517, and have since sold both. They are 100 percent combat ready not doubt, but that huge 65 MOA ring plus the smaller 1 MOA is just way too distracting for my taste. A single 3.2 or 6.5 MOA dot (your preference) like you will find on a Trijicon RMR is much less obtrusive while still letting you get on target fast plus the whole scope is much smaller and lighter.

Can you be talked into the more-reliable Aimpoints instead?

The answer....apparently so.

Here is the net result. Now I know what lower 1/3 co-witness looks like for real. I'm not sure that the placement is ideal yet but it seems good for starters.

Optics Planet came through in about two weeks. About $380 delivered.
