Redding Body Die Users

I have been using Lee dies for all my reloading, but decided to try a Redding body die for shoulder bumping. The die is in the mail, but do I need Redding shell holders too? It completely slipped my mind while ordering. I see the assortment of shell holders, do I need them to controll my headspace? Or do I just raise and lower the die body? I planned on using my Lee shellholder, and I'll still size my necks with my Lee collet die.

SAMMI specs both dies and shell holders so they will be interchangable by brand.

Redding makes a set of "competion" shell holders that increase the deck hight in 2 thou steps so people who have difficulty in properly adjusting their FL dies won't over do it too much; nice if you need it, meaningless if you don't.

The body die will FL size the entire case except for the neck, works with any shellholder.

Right on!

I was horrified at what the Lee FLS die was doing to the necks! After removing the decapping pin and sizing a case, the neck inside diameter was .300" on my .308 brass.... It started out at .310"! Seems like an awfull lot of unnecessary sizing going on to that neck in the Lee FLS.

I have a couple Redding body dies and use them in both my Co-Ax and Chucker. Doesn't matter what shellholder is used as long as you know how to adjust them properly. I like the Redding body die when used in conjunction with the Lee collet neck die.

Seen alot of people liking this combo, so I decided to try it. I built a headspace gauge on the lathe at work, and can dial it right in with the body die. Seeing what the Lee FLS die did to the neck without the decap pin installed was eye opening!

I have been using a Redding Body Die in conjunction with a necksizing die for years to FL resize my cases. A little more work, but no nasty expander ball going thru my necks.

Redding body dies and Lee Collet neck dies work very well for me and straight brass.

Body die + collet neck die is what I use as well.

I like the Redding body die when used in conjunction with the Lee collet neck die.

Ditto here.

For setting up the die to make sure I am only bumping the shoulder back just enough to chamber easily I use a Hornady Headspace Gauge.

For those that have troubles setting the die one can also make some 'washers' from shim stock. Just place a washer of the desired thickness around the case in the shell holder. The shim will keep the case from fully entering the die and the shoulder "bump" will be reduced by a like amount as the shim thickness.
