Has anyone got any thoughts or opinions on the Redfield Revolution Scopes they have just come on the market here in Aus. I'm looking at the 4-12 X 40 with the 4Plex reticle. They appear very well priced so how do they compare with big brother Leupold.

i would rate them a 'best buy' in their price range - fantastic scope for the money. do not expect them to be as clear and bright as a vx-3 (they're not), but they do track well and thus far have been durable for me.

I have a new Redfield 4X12 duplex scope. It reminds me of the Vari-XI in optical quality. I believe it probly has a basic coating on the outside edges of the external lenses and that is it. Mine is sitting on a 223 and I haven't sighted it in yet, but the knobs are finger adjustable and feel good and the scope certainly appears rugged.

I just read some literature, seems to be made up in Portland, or thereabouts, in Oregon. Some great stuff in the past has come out of Oregon_-- I think Kimber once was. Anyhow, I like the 4x12 power, and this seems in the right price range, and early on Redfields had such a killer rep, even though they fell off quite a bit towards the middle there. But I think I would go ahead, and give them another go.

I've got one of their 2-7x33 scopes and I've been happy with it. Clarity is good for the ranges I shoot at (only out to 200 yards at this time), and the build quality seems solid. For their price range, I would rate it a great buy.

My only complaint/wish is that they also were availible with a siminov or a mil-dot reticle.

Also, as I understand they are made in the Leupold factory in Oregon. Redfield is basically Leupold's new bargain off-brand. I have also heard that their price right now is deflated to get the brand re-established.

Mine rests on an AR-10 right now, and has held up very well so far. I've put only 200 rounds through that rifle and scope combo, though. FWIW.

I've read numerous reports of the POI changing when going from 3 to 9. I haven't read anything that said they had worked this out, but that doesn't mean they haven't.

Here is one good write up.

I think there was a member here who did a nice review of them, but I can't find it easily.

My Redfield works great at any power setting. The bigboys in some of the mags have wrote good things about them as well. I do not beleive all of them are bias as some of them say harse things about some products. I highly recommend them.

I have a 2-7x33 . Fantastic clarity at all power settings . I think you would be hard pressed to find a better optic at their price point , and its better than many costing twice as much .

I d say try the Nikon. The Nikon Monarch is superclear. Even the expensive European glass wasnt as impressive tagging with a hefty price.

67, how is your POI at different magnifications?

Haven't really noticed , maybe have 500 rounds on the scope . Its zeroed at 100 and I always have it wicked up to 7x when shooting for groups . When I'm playing SHTF rapid fire on 2x , I'm really not shooting for MOA , I just want quick target acquisition and shoot . The eye relief works well , and it can be both eyes opens . You kind have me wondering now , so I will have to bench some at 50 and vary the power to see what will happen . Doesn't matter though , best scopes at the price-point and I will be buying another .
