Just curious as to why some sellers refuse to ship to C&R holders for C&R firearms. I got a C&R mainly because my local dealer now charges $50.00 for a transfer fee, not to mention having charged double/triple for ammo and reloading supplies. I can understand how some people may be unsure if a fire arm is C&R eligible, but some sellers flatly refuse like they are un-American selling to a C&R holder.

Maybe you're working with the wrong sellers. No clue, but perhaps ranting (in a professional way) to the ATF could influence an FLLed seller?

Most folks do accept it. It is just one of those questions that you ask ahead of time if it isn't specifically called out. If they won't take it, spend your money elsewhere.

An answer that I was given re: trying to get an FFL to sell me a gun in a somewhat 'abnormal' but perfectly legal situation:

The law defines what the FFL CAN do, not what they HAVE TO do. If they don't want to sell to you, there's not anything you can do about it - if they don't want to sell guns they won't be in business very long, but that's there decision.

But I don't have a C&R so the rules may be different.

One of the problems may be that there is no easy way to confirm that a FFL03 is valid. FFL01s are on EZ-Check, FFL03s aren't. Some dealer's are nervous enough that they don't want to take any chance of jepordizing their license.
We C&R license holders should be petitioning the BATFE to get us added to EZ Check.

There are MANY wholesales that won't honor my 01 FFL because I don't have a store front.

What do I do?

Buy from somebody else.

Oh, and to you wholesalers that won't deal with me now ... I intend to be around for another 25 year or so ... and I -do- have a long memory.

Do not sweat it. It is their loss for not honoring your C&R. It happened to me when I was just regestering and this company emailed me and said they do not accept Class 3 FFL.

I said, "Thanks!" I later ordered a gun from AIMS supply without hassle.

AIM Surplus and Southern Ohio Gun (SOG) have gotten the majority of my business since I got my C&R. Midway and Brownell's for accessories.

It's also a bit frustrating when you give mountains of hard evidence to someone that a gun is a C&R and they still won't sell to you because... "It's not on the list."
