The site www.hipowersandhandguns.com is an excellent place to read Stephen A. Camp's superb handgun articles. They are what SHOULD be appearing in gun magazines...

Recently, this site was re-designed, and now offers a forum owned by a Joshua Smith. Attempts to register there are returned, saying that an error has occurred. I was unable to post in the Help section. (An "error" occurred.) The forum seems to acknowledge my chosen board name, but never sent a password number.

Has anyone else had problems there? The info posted suggests that a previous forum owned by Mr. Smith was "hacked". (I don't know the details, or which site.) He is apparently being cautious about hackers trying to gain entry to this site, as one would expect.

I know that Stephen Camp posts here. If he or anyone else who knows what's going on can comment, please do. I'm sure that I'm not the only one having problems. If the forum can be accessed and is secure against hacking, I suspect that it would be a nice place to post...

I'm putting this here because THR is probably the most often visited gun forum, and someone who knows something (perhaps even Mr. Smith?) may see it and be able to help. Thanks.

Lone Star...check your pm Lone Star....I just chcked..and see you have no PM or email address...was trying to send the email address..to help you log into the HP site..... and am not going to put an email in the open...

Arc-Lite-

The forum rejected my bid to register as Lone Star. Said it had too many letters or some such, although I use the name here and elsewhere.

I then registered as Gemini, and you should have my e-mail address provided with that name. I have still not seen an e-mail with the password.

If you can't find me and my e-mail address under Gemini, I will decline to join.

Thank you for not posting my e-address in public. Certainly, I want to avoid that.

Good luck with the new forum, whether I manage to enter it or not.

LoneStar...give it another shot.. maybe make it in one word...such as "LoneStar" and insure your email address is correct... they have had a few gliches on the log in functions.... From the past....the forum was worth the extras to enter... as with THR...a good group of people.

Hello. Sorry to hear of these problems. Seems that they crop up now and again. I will contact Mr. Smith and see what he can do. I am utterly stupid on the tech end of this stuff, but I'll send him the link on this thread and we'll see if we can get you fixed up.

Best.

Thank you Mr. Camp for calling this to my attention. Seems I also signed up for this board then forgot about it when my HD crashed.

Everyone with problems: Your username must be one word, no spaces or special characters. Once in you may choose to appear as whatever you would like. For example, Lone Star, if you register as lonestar you may edit your options to be viewed as Lone Star. You'll see what I mean.

All who have not recieved passwords: Please email me at [email protected] and I will gladly assist you with a temporary password. It seems that there are many internet access companies which filter it as spam.

Thank you all for your interest.

Lone Star:

Can't PM ya so:

Saw your SW USA location. You wouldn't happen to be the Lone Star of Steel Beasts fame would you?

Werewolf-

I don't know what Steel Beasts are, so I guess not. And I'm not really famous, either, although I suspect that there are some girls who would tell you that they think I should be infamous...

I'll try the route suggested above by Mr. Smith, in case my e-mail server filtered the password.

Thanks, all.

Hey Erich,

I hope I can get all these fellas in ok. I've had one email thus far- I don't know if it was related to this thread however- and am awaiting the results.

I've been using my wabash_gunslinger address for quite a while to help get people in, so please feel free to spread it around. Mostly what happens is the mail gets filtered out and I then approve manually.

As for Indiana... I was able to conduct that one EFMJ test... then the weather turned foul again. The newsprint I currently have soaking is going to be ultra-saturated as it's been waiting for about a week now! Doh!

I'll be around THR now as well. I'm only 27 and am already beginning to go senile... :banghead:
