Taurus Forum "Attack Page" warning

The Taurus forum is a great place, but this morning I got an "attack page" warning from my computer when I tried to go there. It says there is some software/virus there that will do some damage. I opted not to enter the site.

I'm posting at the high road because I'm hoping some of the moderators over at the Taurus forum also come here and will read this. My message said that the owners of the infected site may be unaware of the problem.

Anyone else having this message show up at the Taurus forum? I go there every day and have for a while, but never had problems before.

To the moderators of THR: I apologize if this isn't the appropriate place for this post. Please feel free to move to where ever it needs to be. I felt that the internet gun community should be aware, though. THANKS

I have seen the same message. I got on the forum with no ill effects however and the
problem may have been caused by some ad malware or an inappropriate post on one
of their domains according to the administrators. They hope this will all be cleared up
within a couple of days.

Most likely someone linked a picture, page or website that does contain Malware to the forum.

Pretty common.

As I was reading this post the advertisement in the top right corner was for AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL basically slamming the NRA. When I signed in the ad disappeared.
Anyone else see this?
This is my first post but I just do not believ that is the right ads for a gun related forum.
Am I wrong? or did I mis read the ad?

fanchismo, yes, firefox. I've started using firefox because Internet Explorer has a reputation for being so non-secure, which is why I didn't disregard the warning. I've been at that site a few times a day for the last year or so, and never had a problem before, even with firefox.

I poked around on the site and it didn't trigger any of my pc defenses.

There was Silverado truck popup ad that appeared regularly.

Yeah, I think it's firefox being overly cautious, cause it is triggering on stuff I've been looking at for years. I just can't find a way to exempt that site.

The most effective way to spread malware nowadays isn't sending e-mails with trojans attached; it's pushing your malware through an ad server. I had someone contact me last week who asked about our rates, then turned around and offered me more than that but the ads had to start immediately. He was probably planning on running innocuous ads for the first week until we stopped looking, then he'd push malware that would automatically infect browsers. We didn't take him on as an advertiser.

There have also been cases where a legitimate company will get their login credentials stolen for a web server, so suddenly a legitimate company pushes out malware to 500,000 Facebook viewers in a day. It happens.

That's probably what happened here.

Seen the page a day or two ago.
I went thru the site and had nothing happened. Clicked on many links and nothing. I ran scans over just to make sure and got nothing in the reports.

Like I said, I won't be surprised if the anti crowd is behind it to be honest.

Why on EARTH would someone to do such a thing? What motivates them?What do they gain? I don't get it. I believe Josh could be right about his anti-gun theory, but how do you explain the other tens of thousands of people who seem to do it for non-political reasons?

Well, you know that pretend antivirus malware that's been going around? Where you get infected, it pretends it's trial-ware and stopped something bad from happening but you can't use your computer until you pay $19.95?

A little over a year ago I saw a report that discovered one of the people distributing it had been paid his commission of $600,000 that month.. There's the motivation. (Or so I remember. It might have been $60,000, but it's plenty enough for compromising someone's ad account and having no conscience...)

Just FYI, the word from the Admins over there is that Taurus Armed had a software upgrade in the last couple days. Bugs are being worked out. We are also waiting to hear the results of why an "attack page" warning is still being issued.
