As long as I had the camera out today and a little spare time I decided to review some inexpensive knives I have got to know.
First up is a Kershaw made in USA wharncliffe assisted knife that mostly my wife uses when camping or we picknic. This knife deploys with a slight nudge and the D-2 blade is an excellent slicer of food ect. She actually dices with it and the handle is real non slip, good size and butt ugly . The quality is there and I paid about $60 for it delivered on Amazon a few years back . I really like this knife, but not for general carry.
The next knife is a $25 Chinese made Kershaw I bought because a Forum member here said it was a fantastic deal. The blade is some weird Chinese "state of the art" designer steel and is damn sharp and the edge didn't roll when I tried it out real hard on walnut which will roll cheap knife edges. This one has a skimpy engagement of the frame lock IMHO but it is my work truck for those everyday heavy equiptment mechanic jobs It is heavy and stout appearing and it flips out easily enough
The next knife down is a little Kelly Worden Timberline Taiwan made knife of 154cm that I really like! It was around $30 dollars, the only thing bad about it is it doesn't flip very easily but damn the ergonomics are great! The blade is sharp, touches up easily including the serration (which really work on rope) and it is just all around a usefull small 3" lightweight pocket knife. This one rides in my pocket when I don't want to take a more expensive blade out.
Finally the Mel Pardue Benchmade knife I won on Ebay for about $60 . If I knew how small it was I probaby wouldn't have bid. BUT it IS very usefull, the AXIS lock give one confidence it won't close up when worked hard, the stilletto blade (dulled on top edge) makes one feel he has a 3" defensive weapon . You don't know you have the knife tho as it weighs about an OUNCE ! I use it as a back up to what ever I am seriously carrying.
The fellow who told me now I need the Mel Pardue atomatic Axis lock to go with it didn't know I already had this Dalton Axis lock!
Now to the all important to me folder engagement:
USA Kershaw
China Kershaw
Timberline
My favorite old timer carbon Schrade with it's lock up
