RELIABLE hi-caps for a Ruger mini-14?

I may have the chance to get a ruger mini-14 ranch in stainless for $450. I like the gun, but I want something better than the 5 round mag that comes with it. I want some 20 and 30 round mags. Not being able to find good mags is my problem. I dont want the cheapo USA mags or whatever the other off brand mags are. Where are some good mags available at? Also, the same person has a Sig 220 for the same price and I might get it but I'm not sure. Any ideas? Thanks!

Dont recall the make of the magazines, but a friend of mine has two thirty rounders that functioned perfectly in either a mini-14 or ar-15. They were made of plastic.

PMIs are great...

Masens are good as well, and can be purchased from PMI under the name Black Warrior for $15...

Not as easy to find these days, and I can't get them in the PRK anymore anyway, by my Thermolds have been 100% reliable for me.

Why get a mini-14 when you can build an AR for a few more $$$.
Reliable AR mags are cheap and plentiful.

PMI is good and I suspect they made them for Ruger (Ruger never made their own and subcontracted them out - and they wouldn't tell me either). BTW, if MWG ever makes their 90 round drum, they're reliable.

I would hold tight and wait until a new company starts producing quality mags. The available quality mags for the mini are really expensive.

Oh, and I am waiting for Bushmaster to ship me my new AR-15, so I may be willing to sell my stainless mini-14 Ranch rifle, along w/ my high cap mags (several good PMI mags and a bunch of crappy ones)

But I am keeping it for sure until I have my AR in hand. Maybe tommorrow, maybe a month.

You can buy the Ruger LEO stamped 20rd mags for $30-$40 depending on who you buy them from. Ruger doesn't make the 30rd mags anymore.

I have had pretty good luck with the old Ramline plastic 30 rounders that are sold as useable in the AR-15/AR-180/Mini-14. While they will fit in all three, I have found that they won't feed in the AR-180, but work quite well in the AR-15 and in the Mini-14 (in an original 180 series rifle).

The mags are a little flimsy and I wouldn't want to bet my life on them, but they work quite well in the Mini-14 for most all recreational shooting.

Sell that Ruger and shove it up the corn shoot old Bill Ruger wrote the AWB with.

With the money from the Mini go and buy an Armalite AR180B and stand out from the crowd.

My experience with PMI mags is that they fit and function as well (or better) than factory.
I'm on my 4th Mini 14. I like them and keep going back to them.
I've tried every mag under the sun, including factory 20s and 30s.

Masen and factory mags are thin all the way up.
This can give some side-to-side wobble. It doesn't affect performance, but it bugs some people.
PMI mags have a shoulder built in that fits snug in the magwell.
Wobble is eliminated.

When I had a Mini, I had 100% reliability with factory Ruger, PMI, and Thermold. My USA mags were junk. Triple K were a 50/50 proposition. I had no experience with Mason.
