Hi everybody!

I did some research on the forum here regarding gun vaults and came up with nothing. That is to say, I kept running into negatives and nothing conclusive as to what would be a good gun safe to buy.

What I'm looking for is something that can store 2-3 full sized pistols with their accoutraments (ammo, holster, small flashlight) and some small valuables. I was interested in the Gunvault, but as it turned out the type of lock they had incorporated into their design was easily compromised. So that one is out. Then there is the R&D Enterprises HandGun Box... The twist latch has a problem of breaking off. So, has anyone come up with any suggestions recently? I saw a couple that interested me, but I'm uncertain as to their reliability: the DoskoSport Gun Guard® Deluxe Pistol Safe, and the DAC Technologies SportSafe Fast Access Safe. Anyone know anything about them?

I have two year old little boy who gets into everything. Therefor I currently have to keep my pistols up high in the closet away from little fingers and prying eyes. I would like very much to have my pistol within easy reach again. Thanks for your input and help!

David :)

I have one of the Stack-On strongbox safes. It's very sturdy and easily holds 3 handguns plus mags, flashlight etc... I think I have the small one but would have to verify measurements. This is not one of the super fast to open type, but still opens fairly easily although you can't silence the key pad. I like mine a lot. According to Stack-On these are not affected by the tubular lock security issue.

DAC Technologies SportSafe Fast Access Safe.

I own one of these & it serves my purposes. I lucked out & found one at Wal-mart for $40.

As I write this, I have the following in it:
a full-sized 1911
Kel-Tec P40
2 Kel-Tec P32s
Taurus 651 snubby

I keep spare mags, holsters, & whatnot out of the safe. If I must store those in it, It reduces the capacity to
1911
1 KT P32
Taurus snubby

I beleive just about any of those barrell locks can be picked rather easily...and most quick-access safes have those locks as a backup to the electronics.

I don't expect the safe to keep my pistols safe from a thief walking off with hte safe or form a thief from picking the lock. I bought the safe to keep my boy's fingers off loaded weapons until he knows better.

I have used the Simplex Locking system for many years. The Combination may be changed by the owner. I don't like battery safes at all. I prefer the Simplex mechanical design.

Model #401-S for instance as shown , other configurations are available-

Lends itself very well to being bolted inside a piece of furniture, or vehicle to satisfy locking a handgun inside when one cannot carry. Besides satisfying handgun laws when traveling, great for valuables when traveling, having to go to the gym....

For instance , bolted inside a pantry, easy access for that area of house, that nightstand in the top drawer, with key'd locking cabinet door, closets, kitchen cabinet, bathrooms, basements...office desk so they won't steal your M&M's....
