Reloading after pulling bullets

Probably a silly question, but here it goes.

I'm having to pull the bullets on 50 .44 Magnum reloads I made :banghead:. The bullets come out easy enough, and it looks like I'll have to re-flair the case mouth's before seating a new bullet. But, since the case has been expanded a little bit by the bullet the first time it was seated, do I need to resize the case before flaring and reloading?

Most here will tell you yes. IMO, you don't have to as long as you're getting good neck tension.

When re-seating bullets in bottle neck ammo, I don't re-size.

You need to resize the cases. Would you use a .430" expander? The bullet acts as an expander on seating.

You must resize and flare again. If you don't you won't have enough neck tension and the bullets will pull under recoil.

When i have that situation i just pull my deprime pin and start over on process. That way i know all is good.

Dont even have to pull or raise the deprime pin. Since you're only going to resize the top half of the case, no reason to use the full stroke in the sizing die.

Agree with all others, you will have to resize, reflare, recharge, reseat and recrimp.

I pulled 100 9mm yesterday using an RCBS puller that fits in your single stage press.
I reduced the powder charge.
I did not have to do anything except reseat & taper crimp the bullet.
Lucky I guess

Never used it on pistol cartridges, but that rcbs collet puller works like a charm for my rifle loads. Pull bullet, change the charge, then seat the bullet right back where is was w/ The Puller. Hard to beat IMO!

Personally, I would resize. I approach reloading with the kind of integrity and respect any high pressure function deserves. I'm sure you may be able to get away with not resizing, but why take the unnecessary and completely avoidable risk?

Question for all you guys that say it needs to be resized. How wide will the diameter be before you pull the bullet? How wide will it be after? In other words, try it and see. You may be surprised.
