Man just had what alcoholcs refer to as a moment of clarity.. I'm Sick and need help! Every nite after work past week and a half near all last weekend in the garage reloading.
350 .458 Socom
1200 .223
700 300 AAC
On a single stage press. All the brass was preppd and primed for the most part.
Kinda on a roll but I think I need to step away for a few days.
But.........
I have only
200 Colt .45, 100 303brit, 100 8mm Mauser, 100 7.62x54r,
To top off all the ammo cans and that will get me through all of this year.
Then I can spend my nights prepping brass for next year.
Really addicted!!! Don' get me started on casting and powder coating I can spend days and days on that.
What makes this so appeling that we spend hours and hours tons of cash??
Not sure but I'm hooked.
How about You?

I've only been loading a few years - but I still marvel at the process and results - in the big picture.

When I take a finished round out of the shell holder I still marvel at the fact that we have control over our ammo....we can make it be whatever we want it to be. And the fact I can make what I previously had to go pull out of a purchased box kind of astounds me.

It gives me a deep sense of pride as well as accomplishment and feeling of independence. Therefore, although not to the degree you describe above, I'm more than willing to go load some rounds even though I have enough loaded rounds in any given caliber already in inventory. The process is just plain fun.

I have ups and downs, sometimes you can't drag me out of the reloading room, other times I'll go 6mo without even prepping some brass. But I always like putting away some loaded ammo, or dinking around with some wildcat project idea. I am getting a casting pot very soon, and that may send me on a manic ammo production run.... I really can't wait to see!

Much of the ammunition that I load and shoot these days is the same from year to year. I tend to load large batches of them that hold me for a year or so. (My last session a couple months ago was a 2900 cartridge run of 9x19. 204 Ruger is on deck getting ready for prairie dogs later in the summer)

These sessions come in spurts but with each session, I'll spend several days "binge" loading.

This gives me time for working with special cartridges/loads in the between times.

I do prep cases shortly after shooting them. Small batches go quick and I avoid the drudgery tasks when I start a loading session.

I enjoy reloading so spending some time at the reloading bench most evenings is fun. To that end, my reloading room is in a climate controlled section of the house so I don't roast in the summer or freeze in the winter.

Over the last 6 months I have bought the stuff to cast and banged out roughly 8000 bullets. Loaded at least 3000 38 specials, a couple flats of 20 gauge, a thousand 44 mag, and will shortly be experimenting with 3 bullets in 30 06 and one in 35 rem. I am about to hit a career change that will eat up a lot of time, so trying to be stocked up a good bit. I have also turned every bit of brass into ready to load status.

It' good to hear I'm not alone and do this for the same reasons.
The 458 Socom love to shoot but factory ammo $3.00 a round
Reloaded with plated about 50 cents
Reloaded with cast powder coated 20 cents.
That' Not including the paid for case.
It' Very cool at the range everyone looking at my red boolets.
Guess I could sit around looking at the idiot box after work.

That many on a single stage? Wow, you got it bad. Actually impressive.

I remember doing 3000 40S&W and 45ACP in one day during the shortage as my sister needed 40S&W for NRA matches and BIL needed 45ACP for his 1911.

I usually load around 500-1000 on a single reloading session in a few hours or until my butt starts to complain listening to calm music like this:

The faster i reload it the faster i shoot it. If i have loaded ammo or load workups that need checked i cannot wait to get home from work and run to the range. For me now its maybe 50 rounds at a time. I did stockpile some BT bullets for 223rem and once i settle on a final load ill load up 500-600 and just stash them away so i don't have to worry about it this summer. I said to myself one day i don't know if i shoot to reload or reload to shoot. When i start shooting these matches ill be really screwed. I sat down a few months ago and load 500 Extreme 9mm in an evening on the LCT.

I binge load... it depends on the weather and how long my To-Do list is, among other things. Last year I shot quite a bit... lots of new guns and a few new calibers, so I've had to sort out the bench a bit and see what I have. We made some changes in the house... I finally get my own room for reloading and shooting stuff, so I've gone through everything, bringing all my stuff in from other rooms and closets. Trying to keep it reasonable, though... I try to do something with reloading 4 nights of the week, even if it's just sorting brass or checking 7.62mm for case separation, that way it stays manageable.

Been there. I remember one Saturday with1000 .357 bullets and a determination not to get up until the bullets were used up. That was a long day. Then the following day was a marathon on other calibers. Stocked up pretty good, but yeah it can get in the way of other things. It’s killing me to have a brand new LCT press at home that has only ran a single 9mm dummy just to check setup.

I have been doing prep work for the last couple weeks. Processed all my 45 Colt brass (about 700), 30-06 (200), 6.8 SPC (200), 6.8 Creedmoor (50), 9 MM (500 fully loaded). With the exception of 9 MM, the processed brass means it was sized, cleaned and properly stored. I have about 50 7.5 Swiss, 100 7.5 French to process and fully load. The Swiss brass was made with 284 brass. The french brass was ordered from Midway. I have a small amount of 45-70 brass to get too. I ordered a shell holder for it. I was too lazy to swap the spare claws in my Co-Ax so the C&H when the new shell hold arrives will perform this duty for me. Yes I am a loading machine.

Back at it again.
Rained all afternoon so finished loading the last 175 Colt 45s.
Sized and primed the last 110 8mm mauser and 200 7.62x54r. Their in the tumbler now just need to trim and load.
Other then 7.62x39 that' it! All the cases are loaded boxed labeled waiting for summer.
Next weekend pheasant hunting then time to work on the boat. That will be another marathon.
Maybe I should start loading shotgun again I'm down to 50 boxes.

Well I am a bit different I go on case prep binges and casting binges instead. I do it mostly in the winter months due to boredom. I prefer to keep my primers in trays and propellant in jugs until just before I shoot them rather than tying up components long term. Still when you have multiple 5 GAL buckets of some types of brass that need to be prepped you just gotta do what you gotta do.;)
The skeet guys at the range near me do not reload and I go and get as many once fired hulls as I will ever want in a lifetime after a couple trips. I now am picky about what I bring home as I have a few boxes with 10K of one type or another in them. Heck I even have 3K 16 GA hulls I have collected in the past three years.

The weather has been too poor to go out and shoot so to help with my gun addiction I have been on a reloading binge. Due to back issues I cant load a lot at once but will do 50-100 in an evening on my Lee turret press. I have Loaded 1300 rounds of handgun ammo since mid January. Basically I topped off my 45acp, 9mm, 38 specail and 357 ammo cans

Problem is when you go on a bender and get everything done.......you have nuttin' else to do but scrounge thru all your range bags and look for enough empty brass to reload sumpthin'.....anything, until you get a chance to go out and shoot everything up again. Between the winter weather and everything I've had going on lately, in the last three months, I've probably only shot a few hundred rounds. I need a fix.......

I hadn’t loaded much in the last 4 years. I’ve been working on reloading all my empties the last 2 months.
2000 45 acp, 200 480 Ruger, 1200 308, 1000 300blk, 200 44 mag. My next project is loading 1000 223 for each of my boys. I’m preping the brass now.
