I've been reading and also posting in the reloading section regarding the primer and component shortages our fellow shooters have been experiencing.
I use only Winchester primers in my two Dillons and found myself running low on large rifle primers. Called all the local shops in my area and no one had any Winchester primers in stock at all. My buddy and I made a 140 mile round trip to buy some. For the past three days I have been trying to find once fired 308 cases for my M1A. No luck around here and the prices on Gunbroker are ridiculously high. Ended up driving another 40 miles yeserday to find some brass. Where is this post leading? After talking with the various gun shop people, the consensus is that many reloaders are hoarding components, buying 8 or 10 bricks of primers at a time, out of some irrational fear of a nationwide ban on primers, brass and powder. Our Government has much more pressing problems now with the economy and the failure of various lending institutions then to attempt some "backdoor" ammo ban. If there is a ban we are doing it to ourselves by hoarding...remember the primer shortage a few years ago. I welcome any and all comments from around the country about your experiences.
