Reloading Equipment Warranties?

Your powder hopper did not "break" It was not a defective part.
If you do not change your oil is that a car defect?

Of course the Dillon Blue Boys will chime in here.
I define broke as a part that no longer can be used. I told them up front what happened. They are sending me a new one and it cost me nine bucks total.

I'm happy : )

I have bought RCBS or Hornady equipment since the start and I've been pleased with them. I even have a few LEE die sets and they have performed well for me.

I cracked a carrier on a Lee Loadmaster a few years ago . I sent a pic on their website and said I needed a replacement . In less than a week one came , no charge .

If it had actually "broke" it would have been free.;)

The solvents gasing off the powder will brown, and eventually embrittle and crack, plastic hoppers. Add to this the risk of forgetting what you were doing the next day and returning the powder to the wrong bottle, and you could make an ash of yourself.

I am not aware of a hopper or powder manufacturer that doesn't warn against this practice.
There is a guy on another forum who males Pyrex hoppers; (currently I believe for shotgun reloaders) to avoid this scenario. It would be nice if powder drops all came that way.

Earlier this year I bought a Lee 20 lb. melting pot. The the thermal switch fried. It still showed good ohms for the element. I just ordered a new switch off their website to get back into operation quicker. The switch was just $7 for the shipping. Got the new switch in and it fried, plus now the element ohm was 0.
Submitted a CS form, they requested pictures, of the product. They sent me a prepaid packaging, and I had it back around a week later. New element and switch. All is good some 500 lbs. of recovered lead later. :)

I have never had to pay for parts that broke or I broke from Hornady. I can’t say enough about Tim Zeleski and how he has treated me. I always tell him the truth. If I did something really stupid it results in him having a laugh and don’t be doing that again parts are in the mail and no charge.

Here's the link, pyrex for most powder measures.

Thanks for posting that. Again "I would have thought" that if common powders would damage plastic hoppers, then plastic would be an automatic no-go for that application. Go figure. Anyway, glass seems to be an obvious choice, but I'm sure plastic is less expensive and easier to manufacture.

Thanks again. I ordered one for my Redding 10X and am very impressed with the quality. It attaches to the powder measure with two set screws, same size hex wrench as you use for your dies. The top pops off for refilling. No more discolored plastic or emptying the hopper after each session for me.
