I'm in the market for a SCAR 17. I have a bunch of IMR-4895, LC brass, and 150g FMJ-BTs. I bought the powder for an M1A, but I really want the SCAR. Anyone here that reloads for one? I'm not new to reloading by any stretch, but I appreciated the platform enough to ask up front before forking out a lot for one. Any hints would be appreciated.

Let no post go unanswered.

If I could have a Scar 17, I would think I would buy several cases of factory ammo.:D

I don't have a 17, but I do know that the 17's chamber is intentionally cut differently, and it shows when fired the brass has a small change in shape at the shoulder. It is normal and it has caused many discussions. When I say normal, I mean that the chamber is cut that way intentionally, not that it is somehow considered a standard .308 chamber.

Below is a link to a picture that someone else posted on the internet. It does not have a copyright on the image, and the image could go away, this picture may disappear.

"...Let no post go unanswered..." Absolutely.
1600 x 900 pixels is too big of a picture.
A SCAR 17 is just a semi-auto .308 Win rifle. The only thing that is mandatory for semi's is checking case lengths(trim, chamfer and deburr, as required.), FL resizing every time and watching the OAL. Other than that loading for a semi-auto is no different than loading for any other action.
You will find IMR4064 gives more consistent accuracy than either 4895 out of a .308. Mind you, having a bunch of IMR4895 is an excellent reason to use it.
