Is there any caution or "gotchas" when using standard rifle dies for reloading moly coated bullets. For example, loading Hornady A-Max 308s using Lyman rifle 2-die sets. Will the moly coating adhere to the die walls and cause problems?

If you want to remove the moly out of the barrel, just use Wipe-Out, takes it down to the metal.

Use a Lee universal casemouth flare die or similar to bell the casemouth slightly. This minimizes stripping the coating off the bullet shank during seating.
And be aware not to allow moly fouling to build up in your bore, as it has similar issues as leading.
That's all I can think of for now.

Moly coated bullets have turned into a passing fad. There are some who still cling to their usage, but Moly created as many problems as it solved.
At this point, there are better choices for barrel and bullet coatings.

All you have to do is look at the # of Moly coated offerings from Berger and tell it is pass fad, and the same for Hornady decreasing their offerings, too. It is that you can not swap between naked and coated bullets in the same range session unless you really cleaned the bbl.....

It's a myth about the moly build up,, it only builds up to a point and then no more.
Once I start moly on a barrel, I never clean it out, till the barrel is shot out, which is longer life than normal.
As for having to use a die to bell the mouth,, properly sized cases won't scrape the moly off, so no, you don't need to bell.
As for cleaning ,, moly is great,, copper just doesn't stick if you have a good coating of moly.

i finally settled on moly for one of my rifles, i find i don't get as many fliers, hopefully now that i've firmly decided on my load, they won't quit making them, it did take about 30rds before the rifle decided it liked them, once the barrel got good and lubed, the group just kept tightening up.
