I bought some Laser-Cast bullets that have the lube flaking off of most of them. Otherwise they are in new condition. Any easy way to relube them without buying a lot of equipment?

yes, there is, I've done that with some of my cast bullets just to see if it could be done.

I got a piece of quarter inch wire mesh that would cover a broiler pan, formed it around the edges so it would hold the bullets off the pan, placed the bullets on the mesh, put it in the oven at 300 degrees, until all the bullets were denuded of lube, and just ran them through the luber/sizer again.

Works pretty well.

Not too easy really, without a lubrisizer to run them thru. I wonder how old they are. My last batch of 405's for 45-70 are well lubed - see pic..... I wonder too tho just how much is missing from yours.

If each grease groove has some then often the cumulative effct can be there is enough. Best you can do I guess is roll them around with some Lee liquid alox stuff - that would probably make them well shootable. Depends too how hard you intend to drive 'em .... a full amount of lube is usually way more than needed - thus extra smoke etc at times!!

Some of the lube has just flaked off from being stored loosely and shipped a couple of times. I went and looked at them again - most of them have 50% or more of the lube still intact.

Go with P95. Squirt a little Lee Liquid Alox in a ziplock freezer bag with 2 or 3 spoons of rubbing alcohol and mix. Dump in bullets, roll around with your fingers then pour out on wax paper or tin foil to let dry. A little goes a long way and never hurts on any wax lubed cast bullet. I just do the whole box as soon as I buy them then put them in another ziplock inside the box to keep from gathering dust or drying out too much. Cheap, takes minutes and reduces leading from wax lubes.

i just shot some old cast bullets today that i relubed with Lee Alox...these were some old 45 cal 225 round noses that were probably cast 20 years ago and were lubed with maybe Lyman lube of the period....it had dried up for the most part....i relubed and shot them at 725-750 fps....no leading.....D I C K
