In 1995 or '96 I bought a 'matching' pair of Remington 700's. One VLS in .223 Rem and a 7mm Rem Mag Sendero with a laminated stock. My question is on the Sendero LS. I have searched in vain for a value or the history on the Sendero LS. Anybody have any information?

Value...maybe $900 depending on condition....based on a 25-06 Sendero (not LS) I sold a while back for $800 in like new condition.

I don't recall the history exactly...I do know it was the first production heavy barreled gun offered in 25-06.

WOW -- Just noticed join date in '05 and only my second post! -- need to be a little more active..... and thanks for the info Ridgerunner -- I stumped everyone at a local (small) gun show today.

I had a "Sendero" in Rem. 7 mag, great gun for a shooting house....but I now have a Winchester "Laredo" in 300 Weatherby which I like much better...

A buddy and it both bought a sendero when the came out. His is 7mm stw mine was a 7mm rem mag. I sold mine quickly and my buddy still has his. It ain't a great shooter ether but is a good deer killer. Think we payed 700 each new. I would not buy one today for that .There not better than many others just heavier. Just a production remmy barrel only thicker.

hardluk....you guys didn't buy them when they first came out...because that was quite a few years ago and the were only offered in 7mm Rem Mag and 270 Win....or maybe it was 7mm Rem Mag and 25-06...I can't remember now which options came first in the Sendero...but it was one of those.

Not being a know it all, just sayin...you were a few years behind the first Sendero. (which was likely early to mid 90's or so)

The .25-06 was offered in a heavy barrel version long before the Sendero. I have a 700 BDL VS from 1978 in .25-06 that I bought new. Broke my heart when Remington dropped it from the VS though I don't remember which year.

In the mid-90s, I bought a heavy barreled .300 in the HS Precision stock. It was an absolute hammer at 100yds. Not sure, but I think it had the black phosphate finish. It would put 5 rounds of 168g Sierras over a dose of 4831 into a group under .50". Most consistently accurate magnum(custom or not) I have ever owned.

I thought it was a Sendero, but since Ridgerunner's comment I am going to crawfish on the identity.

ridge runner I just love haveing someone tell me what i did not buy. It was in 1997 and our 2 rifles were were a 7mm STW and 7MM rem mag. My buddy still has his box so I checked with him. So much for knowing all.

hardluk....I don't know it all, but I know a little...you may have bought a Sendero (and probably did)....but it was certainly not when they first came out (1994). They were not offered in 7mm STW until later (probably 1997)...I wasn't trying to be a know it all, just trying to get the facts straight.

When the Sendero came out in 1994 it was only offered in 2 calibers...one was the 7mm Rem Mag, I don't remember the other for sure but it was either 270 or 25-06. I could look that up and verify it too...but I'm hungry, gonna go eat.

Pay Attention, We bought our rifles in the FIRST year of the STW. I also said that may buddy had his box still ,it had the date shipped to the local dealer on it. I don't really care when the line started. I bought a piece of junk sendero 7 rem mag at the same time. 1997. Sent it back ,still shot bad ,sold mine. That is the first year for the 7mm STW cartidge in the sendero.
