If you had the opportunity to buy a used one(year old) for 300 with a cheapo scope/bipod would you? I hear these things aren't made that well but are accurate guns. I'm not expecting much from this gun as it would be 300. I am reluctant after reviews to buy this thing but I guess I'm asking if I hate it could I get rid of it for 300 again?

You would probably have a hard time passing it on. Those things have gotten a pretty stinky reputation.

Shop around a bit, you may be able to find an older Rem700 for a similar price point. Then you will have a rifle you can build on.

Yeah I wouldn't pay $300 for it. Weren't they only like $325 or $330 or something brand new with a scope? I seem to remember them being something like that at Walmart. Then depending on the bipod since you said it was a cheap one may be from $20-50. I would no way pay $300 for that and it may be hard to resell it for that being the reputation they have. A buddy had one in a .270win he sold last year and he was asking $250 for it and he had a better Simmons scope on it than what it came with. I say asking as he probably would have sold it for less. It wasn't in the best shape but it wasn't that bad either. I think he had a hard time selling it for that as I know it was for sale for a while. I'm not sure what he ended up selling it for.

Honestly, I'd buy one if cheap enough but I wouldn't pay over $200 for one. For $300 you can get a new Stevens 200 that's a much better gun. Or for $385 you can go to Walmart and get a new Savage 110 with a Simmons scope on it that's also a lot better gun and has the accu trigger on it.

New they were $300...those 710 and 770s are throw away rifles. A poor attempt on Remington's part to try to compete with the Stevens 200.

If I only had 300 dollars.....

I'd call all the pawn shops and used gun stores around a 100 mile radius and find a good used lever-action 30-30.

710? :barf:

Remington's version of the PC Jr. You can do a lot better with $300 in the second hand market.

I'm honestly looking for a beater woods rifle.. I was considering scoping my mosin but just cant bring myself to bubba it. Ill keep looking.

I own one - and while I wouldn't call it a total POS, I wouldn't buy it new again for $300 (which is what I did pay for it), much less used. $100-150 would be more like it. Mine shoots pretty decent actually but the bolt is not easy to operate and you're pretty much forever stuck with the ugly factory stock and the original barrel.
