If you post a news clip from a site that requires registration, please register as:

username : thehighroad
password : thehighroad

That way we all know how to log in to see what you're talking about.

It's common practice on most of the boards, but people forget or new folks come around.

If you read a story on packing.org, it will be packing/packing etc.

Thanks, just a reminder for those of us that forget sometimes......Thanks!

I just want to add one more thing, for those of us that are Firefox users (why aren't YOU), there is an extension called BugMeNot, which allows you to auto login to many pages. Basically you will never have to register for a news site again. Very handy and very fast!

you can also get the same effect by pasting the URL into www.bugmenot.com The extension just accesses bugmenot's database of premade username/password combinations. The extension isn't working for me for some reason.

That depends on the terms of use of the individual site. Of course, if a site requires registration, chances are they don't take too kindly to Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V.

I usually post the link as well as the text. By posting the link I am acknowledging the source under the fair use rules.

There are several reasons I paste the text. One is because many sites archive or in other ways move/remove data and there is nothing more frustrating than a dead link.
Also some people, especially those on dial up, use browsers that don't open a link in a new window.
You don't have to deal with the delays causes by your pop-up blocker dealing with the newspapers advertisers.
You don;t have to wory about the linked site gettibg through your company firewall.

But the main reason is that I just think it makes it easier to read.
