Magnum 1100's are expected to be able to function with shorter shells of a magnum designation, and usually with 2-3/4" shells that are a true high-brass type load, about 1 oz. hi-velocity or other.
Any magnum gun that functions with low brass or light loads is giving the parts an extra workout when shooting the magnums, but then again, the 2-3/4" guns that cycle the light loads are supposed to survive the beating that they take from the baby magnums, and have 2 gas posts present vs. 1 for the magnum 3" barrel.
Get a standard barrel to fit the frame for the light loads, for my best recommendation.
If you never intend to use heavy magnum loads, the system can be slightly opened in the ports.
Some of the specialty work that I do is smoothing of parts in the mechanism for greater reliability and reduced wear, so guns will function even during adverse conditions.
That has had shooters tell me that they could feel a real difference when they first pulled the bolt handle after the smoothing work.
Ask any other questions, but details from your first firing session can help with suggestions. Good shooting, be safe.
