So the safety notches on the Pietta 1863 spur trigger .31 brasser are appearently cosmetic and non functional. Looking at them it appears that extending them further down the back of the cylinder might remove the web between the individual nipples. Modifying the hammer would appear to cause possible failures to fire or not support the percussion cap during firing.
Anyone successfully modified either the cylinder or the hammer or both to obtain at least one functioning safety notch on one of these little brass frame guns?
