Remington 700 Sendero......Opinions?

Horsemany is right... that Leupold would be a good choice.

I have an (old school) Redfield LE-12 with the dual reticles for range finding - LE=Law Enforcement -- (discussion of it here: http://www.benchrest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50794 ) but in the novel a Leupold MK IV ER/T is the scope on the Sendero. I'd definately recommend a 30MM tube rather than a 1" simply for light gathering capability.

I'll get out the digi camera this morning and snap a pic of the rig. Unfortunately, it's a camera my daughter broke the rear display screen on and of course gave BACK to Dad for Christmas. :) It doesn't take indoor pics very well, but I'll give it a shot or two.

You should reload your own.. otherwise Remington is the only ammo manufacture for any of the ultra mags..

Mine's in .300WM. Quick-deploy caps lens caps came with the LE-12 Redfield. You might try Butler Creek's caps... have them on a couple pieces and they work well.

Senderos are excellent and very accurate as you can see from the previous postings. My 300 Win Mag shoots 1/2 MOA with 180 GR Nosler Ballistic Tips. Heavy. Yes. But if you want or need accuracy you will get used to the weight. Millions of GI's carried a Garand that weighs as much as a scoped Sendero.
Welcome to THR!

Excellent point, but I'll point out that the Garand is way better balanced than the Sendero is. Balance makes a big difference in perceived weight.

ShunZu, that looks like an Accuracy International bipod you have there on your Sendero with a "trick" adapter.

:)

My .25/06 Sendero will shoot 1.5" @ 300 yds. (.5 minute).
I view it a "fixed position" rifle. I would NOT carry it all day still hunting.

Excellent eyes you have. :) You're absolutely right. Easy on / easy off and VERY well made. Nice when you need that few inches of extra room in the safe, or when the gun case is slightly too small on the way to the range. Left-right tilt and swivel. I still have a piece with a Harris on it... and I cuss it regularly on the range or when coyote hunting because it lacks those features.

For what ever reason I swore I would never have anything to do with magnums. That is until I went to the range with a bud of mine and launched a few projectiles with his 7mm rem mag. Two weeks later it was mine! I agree with everyone else. Its a heavy rifle but man is it accurate. Told a guy via a post that i shot MOA at 100 yards and he called me a liar. Didn't argue with him. Figured he'd never put one to his shoulder.

I had one of the first Senderos...back in 2000 or so.

It was a 25-06...accurate, but too long for hunting. I have an SPS Tactical in 308, I consider it a much better option for hunting.

Well, I sold off my M70 Laredo (sniff), and then this beauty came along and caught my eye .

Ten years old, and 15 rds through it. As soon as my hay pasture is cut, I'll run a few rounds through it myself.

Remington 700 Sendero SF II

This is The SF II model but the standard Sendero's are nice too.

Pro's
Accurate
Powerful (300 REM Ultra mag)
Well made
HS Precision stock is awesome

Con's
Heavy
Would have preferred a two stage trigger instead of the X-Mark trigger (never really got used to it)
