I just got out to the range with my Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308 and I have to say I'm pretty happy. I was shooting factory Fiocchi 150gr soft points at 100 yards and managed to get a decent group. I was a little worried about it after seeing some people having issues with it, but this ought to do nicely for deer seaons, hog season, and target season. Below is a 10 shot group, I think I need a smaller bullseye to be able to shrink the group more.

Looking good!! Can't go wrong with the R700 SPS. Economically one of the best buys on the market. The good thing about it also is later down the road if you decide to upgrade the options are never ending and affortable. Not to mention gun smiths favor working that action over any other.

Ain't it a shame that Remington's QC is down the toilet these days? (If you choose to listen to those who crow those thoughts) Nice grouping on that string. Great rifles... love all three of my 700s.

I think it has more to do with making their own choices sound better by talking down another's flavor preferences. Congrats on it... many of my rifles shoot better than the loose nut behind the stock. :D

Rat - i know the feeling, the rifle is pulling me up to it's level, and i'm dragging it down to mine. Maybe if I let it do its job and stay out of it's way I'll see better results.

Nice group. Have a Rem 700 Tac.Nikon scope and after 40 rds 2 MOA is the best. Have shot off BiPod,sand bags, 2 different kinds of ammo. I'm having having someone else shoot this weekend to rule me in or out. Maybe Kedearian is one of chooen few to have a shooter Remington. Deadeye

It's just gonna take trigger time... awareness of the heart beat, the breathing, the squeeze... but, with those groups, don't need to tell you that. Gettin' the head to slow down and relax is sometimes the roughest part.

Thanks Ratdog68. Here are some pictures of my other Remingtons.

It's kind of a toss up on which i'd perfer, fixing me takes a lot more effort than fixing a bad stock/bad scopemount/bad ammo/bad what ever. But knowing the rifle works well does give you a bit more of a drive to focus on the basics.

Looks about right, took me free floating the barrel a little more and using reloads before I got down to that though, I'm impressed that you were able to do that with factory ammo.

Or, maybe I just suck as a shooter... :uhoh:

You have a nice accurate rifle. It will just get better. I sure glad all my 700's are not junk...I was afraid I would have to sell them. Still one of the best actions out their.

Nice very nice, I got my in .223 SPS Varmint and this thing can shoot!!! just wait until you get it freefloat ;)

I have this rifle in 223, and a Burris Fullfield II 4-12x42 and put 5 shots in a nickel at 100 yards with 65 grain soft point bullets made by Sierra loaded by me or 70 grain Sierra hollowpoints loaded by Federal. Remington still makes an excellent product.

I'm sorry hard to believe .223 with 1:12 twist stabilizing 65 or 70 grain bullet... If you have recipe please let us know!!! if it was Berger bullets, but the heaviest they got for 1:12 twist are 64 grains...
SMK are 69 grains and they require 1:10 i think...

well on of this days I'll get new barrel for it I'm thinking 1:8 or 1:7, this would really rock ;-) but let me burn this first :-D
