I was thinking about getting one of these as a hunting rifle, tried researching it at Remington but there is not alot of reading on it, it is supposed to be a step up from the 710, but for $400 with a Bushnell scope didnt seem like a bad deal for a hunting rifle. Do any of you guys own one or know about this particular rifle any info would be apprreciated. TIA.

Eh... they don't have a good reputation. The stock is kinda flimsy... and the action had plastic parts...

However, for just hunting, yes, it's prolly good enough.

Save up a couple hundred more and get a Savage and a cheaper ($60-$100) scope. You'll have a much better rifle, and the scope won't be any worse than the one on the 770.

Walmart has Savage packages for a decent price- and you will be getting a better rifle.

OR see if any retailers around you have some of the ADL versions of the 700 for a good price- last year, one of the local dealers did 700 ADLs for $308. Slap a $100 scope on it- and you would be good to go.

As a general rule, the Savage 110 has cost the same price as the 710. You can get a 110 package for $350 and it is a vastly better rifle (like a Craftsman socked set compared with a K-Mart store brand).
