I cant talk myself out of a 7.62x39 bolt action any longer. The lure of the $399 CDNN special Remington is calling me. Anyone have any experiance with the m? Is the bore diameter .308 or .311?
If there is any reason not to buy this gun, stop me now!!!

Thanks
Jason

I have no personal experience with this model myself but I want one too. I'm even considering building one on a Mauser 98 action.

Is this not exactly the same gun as the CZ Mini-Mauser? I got a barreled action in 1992 that I stuck in a Ramline stock and topped with a 2x7 Bausch & Lomb scope. Damn thing weighs almost nothing and has shot 1/2" groups at 100 yards with milsurp ammo.

nice!!
I hear they are the same gun..also sold under the Charles Daly name.
I heard the bolts are tight and sticky, how is yours?

At one time you could buy just the action-in the white-from Charles Daly, before Rem bought them out. They are OK little actions--it's hard to make something that small and have it be smooth, but the ones I built rifles on all shot great. My favorite one is a 221 fireball--Looks just like SaxonPig's same stock-- I used a lite Lilja barrel in SS 2x7 Leupold very fun little rifle.

i know a guy who has one in 7.62x39 and if i remember corrctly he said it has a .308 bore but the lead on the throat is longer giving it time to swage the bullet down without raisingthe chamber pressures.

i have a 799 in .223 and i've been considering buying one in 22 hornet.
i bought mine back when bass pro had them on sale and as soon as i got it home i whacked it on the head and gutted it out.
its being built as a mickey mouse version of a british style safari rifle.
the stock is being reshaped to use as a pattern to be duplicated. it has a lot of drop and a little bit of cast-off. the bottom metal has been reworked into a drop box and the side button floorplate release is being changed over to an in the bow release. the triggere is from a sako and fits the reshaped triggerguard perfectly. i still need to make the banded rear sight base and front sight, the standard necg stuff is just to big to look right on this project.
the left side of the receiver is going to be reshaped similar to a g33/40 to get rid of the lettering a make it look more like a mauser, the thumbcut has been put in the left side of the receiver and a single rear square bridge is going to be welded on.

as soon as i finsh my 375h&h mauser project i'll get back to work on the mini mauser project

I have one in 7.62x39 from CDNN. Nice little rifle and accurate. Bolt is not as smooth as regular Mausers and binds a little. Feeding is not perfect but OK most of the time. Bolt handle is small to my like but manageable. Gas escape hole is awfully small compare to 98 Mausers. Below is a 5 rounds +1 group at 50 yds with cheap Wolf ammo. 5 shots touch each other. The flyer is my fault.
