Remington 870 Express HD

These have gone through a few iterations since they were introduced. The newest versions have a different forend (from the Police line?), and not too long ago they started coming with sling swivel posts. The "J-lock" is now gone also.

I bought one very recently and I noticed that "Remington 870" is marked on the receiver instead of "Remington 870 Express".

Big 5 Sporting Goods (where bought mine) is marketing the newest version as a 7-shot weapon. They still have some older ones on the rack where the mag tube extends slightly in front of the muzzle, and these are labeled as 8-shot weapons. Is this accurate?

If it is 25077 you are referring to, then I bought the same one ~ 3 weeks ago with production date Feb 2009. It is 6+1. But otherwise everything you mentioned is indeed what I have on mine.

I have been thinking of getting at big 5 my self. Just one question are the barrels removable, or fixed like the ithaca?, and how do you like it.

An 870 is still and 870 and the barrels are removable and interchangeable with any other 870 barrel. The only difference really is that if you get a model with the clamp on the extended magazine you have to remove that first before the mag-extension will unscrew and let you remove the barrel.
