I just picked up my first 870 Express Magnum from a guy locally. The model is the 18" version without the factory extension.
I ran into an issue yesterday when trying to load the gun. With 2 3/4" shells the tube only held 4 rounds, when I believe it should hold 5. I removed the mag spring and retainer and didnt see any binding. Has anyone else experienced this issue.
Also the guy threw in a factory +2 round extension, but the gun still has the dimples. I've searched and found that there are 2 different methods for removal 1) Socket+hammer or 2) Dremel & Drill. I've read that the Socket method can cause permanent damage and that the dremel method is easier. I just want to know which method people prefer.
Lastly, I want to install a Scattergun Jumbo safety and want to know if I need to buy any replacement parts to install the safety. This model has the J lock if that makes any difference.
