Remington LT-20: Yes or No?

I have found a used Remington LT-20 that is pertneat perfect. I have been pretty good at handing out advice to others but now I need some unbiased advice.

I have fallen in love with the looks and the feel of this gun. I don't need it and am wondering if I really want it. The local gun shop has $499 on the tag price but I'm sure that I can get them down a bit.

This gun has an IC fixed choke. I have two safes full of shotguns and rifles and normally use a Franchi 48 for my 20 gauge use.

Now that this gun has flung a craving on me, I can't think straight enough to give myself advice.

What would you do? Consider the price and if I really should bother with it. It is not a pawn shop so the dealer's price is not going to be haggled much.

Good deal? Bad deal? Help me out here a bit. Anybody got a LT-20? My nerves are shot just thinking about that little beauty.

I don't want to do anything stupid because I've fallen in love with it. I can get over it if you guys that are thinking straight tell me to back off. I'll take a Valium and go to bed until the symptoms pass.

I have had one since 1992. I don't use it much because PA has STUPID hunting laws.

I would never sell it. It is a sweet shooting, nicely balanced gun. I've killed many, many, many grouse, rabbit, and clay birds with it. With a RS/IC slug barrel it is a deadly deer gun out to 75 yards.

I paid $525 for it NIB, so $499 seem a bit stiff. Get the best price you can, but it will provide you many hours/years of enjoyment.

LT 20's are well balanced and fun to shoot.
The gas system will likely make it a softer shooter than a Franchi 48
with the long recoil system.

I've been well pleased with mine and I'm picky. It has a 26 in. barrel with RemChokes. As you probably know IC will be good for most game and five stand and acceptable for skeet. LT 20 extra barrels aren't cheap.

Your price may be a tad high. You'll likely do well to haggle a bit. I think I paid $375 (used-good condition) four years ago.

I am fond of my sporting 20. Never has failed to shoot anything I put in it! I paid $500 for mine in a hard case a year or so ago from a guy who needed money. I agree with the feel and handling of the LT20.

That's a Special Field. You didn't SAY that...

I'd grab that (and haggle a bit).

Get a trigger shoe for it. 1100 triggers cut my finger more than once. Otherwise, it's a fine gun. Carry a spare o-ring, some Rem-Oil and a rag, and it'll do its job without any trouble.

What is this Remington 1100 cut finger syndrome? I have been shooting them for 45 years, and not only have I never experienced it, I have never even heard of it until lately.

I have one with black synthetic stock, screw-in chokes, $250 from a friend of mine. $499 might be a bit high, but see how low will he go $350-400 might be more in line.
