Hello all. I just bought a M-11 and was looking at new furniture for it. It appears that these guns have a bit of a reputation for splitting forends and I just wanted to have a spare furniture set on hand, just in case.

Looking at some parts wharehouses, I saw that buttstocks are sold for 3-1/2" and 3-1/4" tangs. I am not exactly sure how this measurement is taken. My best guess is that it is a measurement of the length of the stock's top tang inlet, corresponding to the length of the top metal grip tang as it comes off of the rear of the receiver (from the rounded end to the 90 degree angle at the receiver back). Picture shows measurement from points A to B.

Does this sound right?

Thanks.

Thanks Gordon.

Do you happen to know if Remington changed the tang design further, or should all 3.25" stocks fit all 3.25" tangs?
