I recently obtained a Remington 14 in .30rem. Even after cleaning all the old gunk out and de-rusting and filing smooth the back 6" of the magazine tube, the action is very stiff. Not all the way, just the last 1/4", then there is a click, and I can bring the slide forward. Working the action quickly, there is no problem, the momentum does what is needed.
Is this a standard characteristic of this rifle or do I need to look for a busted spring, reassemble the rifle with part #22 turned the OTHER side up, or get myself to a gunsmith?
