Remington Modle 31 Shotgun won't fire

The firing pin does not appear to strike the primer hard enough. Got a new main spring, but it is too long. Old spring appears to have original strength. Firing pin is free and sticks out of the bolt enough. No apparent gunk in the works. Need help to disassemble the trigger assembly. Afraid I cant get it back together. Any suggestions appreciated

The exploded drawing I have of the Model 31 shows a barrel adjusting collar inside the receiver. Might need to turn that IN a hair to close up the headspace. Should be a small screw with a toothed retainer visible in the barrel hole. Undo the screw, slide the retainer away from the collar, adjust collar, slide retainer back into engagement with collar, replace screw, then barrel.

Why do you want to disassemble the trigger? It's highly unlikely the main spring needs changing. Coil springs do not lose temper over time. Far more likely to have a broken firing pin or crud in the bolt.
