Remington VS vs. SPS or SPS Varmint?

I was looking for a good long range rifle and came across many articles and reviews praising the Remington VS as a good starter, but none for the SPS or the SPS varmint. Does anyone know the benefits or pitfalls of the SPS compared to the VS? I am looking to buy one as my first long-range rifle, and any help would be greatly appreciated. My old man, donttellthewife, said that this website is a great resource.

I just purchased the SPS Varmit in .223 but have not scoped it yet or fired it. I look forward to hearing others comments as well.

They are only 1/12 twist. You might want to look for 1/8 or 1/9, especially for the longer ranges.
