I'm already pretty well acquainted with the Winchester 9mm value packs at walmart.
Anyone try the Remington walmart value packs? In particular I'm looking at the 9mm 115 grain JHP 100 round packs but I'd be interested in any other experience as well. Particularly, is it reliable, how powerful is it compared to your "average" 9mm round, and has anyone had any failures with it? Anyone know how reliably they'll expand?

If it's any good it might be worth getting a couple of them to supplement my meager supply of Federal HST (that stuff ain't cheap).

Not the JHP, but I've had a lot of experience with the yellow boxed UMC ammo. Not 9mm, but in 40s&w. They are about the same as WWB in my opinion. I tried CCI Blazer Brass today for the first time, and had one with a bad primer/FTF in a 50rd box. I guess that for less than $8.00 per box of 50 rds (Wally World) you get what you pay for.

I prefer the Remington to the WWB. I think it's a little hotter than the WWB as far as the 9MM 115gr FMJ goes. I like it's accuracy and it feeds reliably in my M&P 9MM and my Beretta 92fs. My M&P chokes on WWB, but runs all day on Remingtons...YMMV depending on your guns preference.

All the ones I've used go bang.

I had some feeding problems in my P1; they're a tad shorter than heavier HPs & don't always make it up the feed ramp in that pistol.

I have shot them in my Blackhawk .357/9mm convertable with no problems other than quite a few pierced primers. That could be a problem with the BH, but I doubt it, as it hasn't happened with other brands of ammo.

For the price, they are worth a try.

Regards, Hud

More flash with the Remingtons. I tried both at night and the WWB has a much lower flash.

I've shot a fair amount of these Remington JHPs in 9mm, as well as .45. Power-wise, they kick and bang about the same as any other standard pressure 9mm (or .45). I've never had one fail to fire. The 9mm's muzzle flash is more than I would like. Can't speak to the expansion.

I like them for inexpensively function testing a gun for use with JHP ammo, but prefer others (e.g., Federal 9BP) for carry (see muzzle flash).

Around here they have the UMC (Remington) 250 rd. Megapacks.

Much more consistent quality than Winchester White box, and a lot better price nowadays.

Thanks. I think I'll try some of them then. I'm not looking to use it to replace my current carry ammo. I just want something to supplement it. You never know when having an extra couple hundred rounds of JHP ammo might be a good thing.

The last time I tried it I had 3 bad primers in a 50rd box of .380 with the UMC fmj, but the rest (100rds of .45, 250rds 9mm) all went bang. I wouldn't carry it but for plinking/practice it's fine.

The bad primers could be a gun/ammo combo thing too. I have seen issues like that before.
I'm planning to try some and if I go through a couple hundred rounds with no failures I'll consider it at least good enough to put in the bottom of the ammo box for a rainy day.

I have shot 1000 to 2000 rounds of Remington Value Pack, never having a problem except once. I had a round where the case folded over to the inside when the bullet was pressed in at the factory. This of course made the outside diameter larger at the top of the case. When it fed into the barrel of my Glock, it wedged in pretty tight. I got the round out and still have it.

The Remington UMC 115gr JHP feeds fine in my Glock 26 and Taurus 24/7. Accuracy and cleanliness is on par with other cheap brands like WWB & S&B. I keep a box in the night stand in case a zombie attack occurs and run through two mags of Golden Sabers and two mags of Hornady TAP FPD.

It's a little pricier than WWB in my neck of the woods so I don't buy it very often.

Personally I've never had a problem with any centerfire ammo that I can recall. It's all gone bang. WWB, Rem-UMC (green or yellow box), Blazer brass, American Eagle, Wolf, even the reloads the range sells work fine for me.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

Have shot a TON of the Remington UMC stuff.

The FMJ (250 rd bulk pack) stuff in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45ACP
I agree with others that it feels a little hotter than most other ammo of that sort. Seems to be a little on the dirty side but not bad and it's always gone bang for me.

The JHP (100rd packs) stuff in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45ACP
Same as above. The .45ACP didn't like to feed in my PT-1911 so I didn't buy any more. I suspect it'd do the job just fine...pray to God that I'll never actually have to find out!

I bough the remington 500 round .22 box and it was a little dirty and unreliable. The federal 500 box is much cleaner and reliable. I but the 100 round of Winchester 9mm FMJ 115gr. Very clean. Round per round it is cheaper than the 250 9mm UMC remington pack.

Value packs

Sure wish that .44 came in value packs! Have tried contacting both suppliers and get NO response:cuss: I cannot believe that there isn't enough interest.

My order of preference is Winchester, Rem/UMC, Blazer Brass, but all three work fine.

I shoot the Remington JHP valuepacks almost exclusively, my indoor range doesnt allow exposed-lead-base bullets, so its either JHP or TMJ, no FMJ allowed. I like'em, but the .45acp ones are hard to find.
