Replaced my 380acp with a 9mm.

I completely agree with your choices. I carry my Hellcat with confidence. 13+1 or 15+1 of 9mm is way better than 7 or 8 .380.
I am however just slightly disappointed that you traded it off entirely!. The LCP platform is a niche gun as a back-up, deep concealment, lightweight and compact pocket gun. Purse gun. Travel gun. Fishing vest gun.....admittedly a rely on my LCP too much.....because it's easy.View attachment 1178695
My LCP is going with me today to our little Mayberry-ish home town for a 10am funeral.
I almost certainly won't need it....but I will have it anyway.
Interesting points. The trouble with having an LCP is that it can make one lazy. You could have concealed a much better gun for your funeral today.

Hope the memorial went well.

There’s a place for both of them.

I carried a G26 as a duty gun, but now find it a little large, a little heavy to carry every day. That’s what my LCP is for.

But if something goes bump in the night it’s my G26 with a G17 mag I reach for.

I pocket carry a SIG P365 pretty much daily, with the flush-fit 10 rounder and stoked with Underwood 124 grain +P JHPs. It also has a Shield red dot on it. It weighs a little more than my S&W 442 but offers more than twice the capacity, a faster reload, better practical accuracy (even out to 50 yards for COM shots), and better terminal performance. It has been unerringly reliable. I really don’t think I can ask for more. I love my 442 and I love my new production Walther PPK .380, but the SIG really leaves both of them in the dust for a defensive EDC. There are a lot of great choices out there in micro 9s… the Hellcat, the new FN whatever it’s called, etc. It’s a good time to be shopping for a small 9mm for carry, and the improvements in 9mm hollowpoints have closed its ranks with the larger bores. I like the compact and full-size Glocks, and I admire the firepower of my 17, 20, and 21 all with +2 magazine extensions. I just never warmed to the 26 and it has just never felt right in my hands. For many I know, though, it’s just the ticket.

From my experience in moving from the Glock 42 to a Sig 356 the only downside is the inconvenience of not being able to pocket carry.

Capacity, recoil, accuracy, reliability and quality have remained the same or improved with the switch.

For my "bump in the night" I have switched to a PCC with 20 plus rounds.... Rack and roll!

That's exactly the same way I felt when I handled a G26 for the first time. It was like someone took a 2" by 4" and tried to turn it into a baseball bat using only a dull kitchen knife to carve it with!

When I went looking for a micro 9mm. I found the SIG P365, the Glock 43X and G48, and the S&W M&P Plus all felt great and were very comfortable in my smaller size hand.

For small, I like a Colt Mustang or Kimber Micro. Both are 380 ACP and quite small.

380 ACP is a short range cartridge to be effective. Don’t waste ammo on longer shots.

If 9x19 is a must, a Kimber Micro 9 is nice.

I have a Glock 42 and 43 and they are NOT perfection as Glock advertises.

S&W Airweights are good pocket guns but a bit larger than the Mustang or Micro. I like the 642/442’s best due to the shrouded hammer but the 638 hump back offers SA shooting capability.

The 9mm is a better choice for a micro, as well as a sub-compact.

The .380 ACP needs a 3.5" barrel to be a good self-defense round.

Capacity is far less important than shot placement, expansion, and penetration.
I 100% agree with all of this. .380 is a completely different round out of a 3.5 inch barrel. I would never own one shorter than that. I have a .380 S&W Shield EZ and its a fun gun and wouldn't be afraid to carry it. But I would never carry a micro .380.

I don't put limitations on calibers , I place limitations on SHOOTERS . Walther PPK/S .380 has served ME very very well ,since I acquired mine in 1981-82 .

MY original was made in Germany and without Alexandria arms on the slide ,the second one does have Alexandria Virginia on .

Now days I split my carry duty between Walther PPQ M2 , Q5 Match and Canik on occasion .45 Colt Commander or Springfield SS Officers Target .45 Acp

I have had an LCP for around 10-15 years. I live in MD where until Bruen, a CCW was nearly impossible for someone who isn't a cop or a business owner, but I have had a UT non-resident permit for 10 years or so (I'm in DE, VA or WV at least once a month so it has had some use, plus, of course, I'd carry on vacations and weekend trips out of state as well). I have had my post-Bruen MD permit for around a year (it was a 2-3 month process to get it, and I couldn't get into a class right after the case as they filled up fast). I haven't carried the LCP once since my MD permit, and I could easily count on one hand the number of times I carried it out of state on my UT permit (and even then, I didn't really need that small a gun). My P365 with the 10 round mag, Taurus 856UL and S&W 442 are all I need when I need maximum concealability. Maybe my position would be different if I worked at an employer where carry might get me fired but I wanted to carry anyway, then going as small as possible so there is almost no chance of being caught while still wearing professional clothing (but then, I'd probably go a tad smaller and go with a Kel Tec P32). However, I'm a teacher so being fired would be the least of my worries if I carried and was caught as I'd be going to jail, so no "deep concealment" carry at work for me. Even in the rare occasions I want to carry a backup gun, my 2nd P365 with a 10 round mag, or a J-frame works quite well in that role in daily carry.
