Gen 5 19 is my favorite overall Glock. During Gen 4 I was in on the 26 or 17 because the compact grooves didn’t work for me, then the 19X was amazing but once I picked up a Gen 5 19 it was over for my other Glocks (except my Gen 4 21, that one will never leave me), they got replaced with backup 19s.

The 23 in Gen 5 is very interesting and I think that’ll be my next one, but I suspect that fatter slide, while being great for recoil by all accounts, will kill its potential for carry for me.

But I have a lot of .40 projectiles and brass and just can’t warm up to the LEM on my P2000, so I probably need a .40 that I actually like to shoot.

I'm also waiting for the Glock 43X/48 sized 10mm to come out.
I shoot equally well with my Glock 43X, 19, and 26.

I'm waiting for Palmetto State Armory to release their version of the Glock 43X. Though I was tempted by a Glock 48 MOS the other day.

Other: Gen5 G20. Because it is good to have a pair and a spare, of one’s favored handgun. ;)

Actually, a Gen5 G26 would make plenty of sense. I bought one, not long ago. If I were not so devoted to Ruger SP101 revolvers, and were willing to finally switch “primary” to my healthier left hand, I might well carry a G26 daily. As it is, a G26 is a good “emergency reload,” when toting a revolving pistol.

For range fun, or possibly competition, I can't recommend the G19X or G45 enough. They are the flattest shooting, possibly concealable Glock I've used. I absolutely love my 19X to shoot and the color is sweet. The G45 is the same pistol with a stock Gen5 Black frame. For conceal and range fun, the G43X would be hard to beat. I have a G43 and it's my usual carry piece, but the longer grip of the G43X would make it much easier to handle more range sessions. I hope you find what you're looking for!

Another vote for the G23. You can shoot .357 sig and 9mm with conversion barrels. You don’t have a .40 yet and it would kind of round out your collection of calibers since you already have 10mm and 9mm. After that you need a .45 acp to have all the major auto loading calibers. Never know what ammo will be available during the next pandemic or panic buying saga. Good to have options. I just wish Glock would make a 10mm that’s the same basic dimensions of the G23 since I don’t really care for the G29. 10mm has become my favorite semi auto handgun cartridge.

I purchased a Glock 20 gen5 a few months ago and I like it. So I was contemplating about buying another Glock for carry/range fun. I like the gen 5 models because; they have an ambidextrous slide release, a reversible magazine release, and don't have the finger groves like the gen4 models.

I have a micro compact 9mm.
I currently don't have a 40s&w.
I will probably buy a gen5 Glock 29 when they are available.

If you vote for a different Glock, please comment which one in a post
19, or 48 (if that's in Gen 5). Broadly useful. The basic Glock

With the G19 currently leading I am leaning towards getting the G19.

I like some of the other mentioned options, but I really like the ambidextrous slide release. I have it on 2 of my pistols and love it. The G43 would be a great carry option, but it's missing the slide release on the right side

Thanks for all the recommendations. It looks like the boring Glock 19 gen5 is my next Glock.

I like my gen 5 Glock 19’s. A very versatile handgun. A close second for me is my Gen 5 Glock 26.

Easy to conceal, and easy to scale up or down as needed with mags. A lot to like with that one, also.

Your glock 20 will handle 40s&w just fine so don't buy a 40s&w next, or if you feel you must buy a 40 barrel. With 357 sig, just rebarrel the glock 20. Aside from their 10mm offerings I'm really not a glock fan. I guess the glock 19 is iconic, the glock 26 might be more flexible. Both pistols have better offerings from other manufacturers.
Maybe put the glock 29 on your list if you are liking the glock 20.

Depends really, I do like the .40 a lot but if you've already got 9mm then you better ask yourself if you want to start stocking up on a new cartridge. If not, which is understandable, then probably a 9mm of some sort. I think the G26 is a good carry gun, but if you've already got a micro compact 9mm, then maybe you don't need a smaller 9mm, so something larger along the lines of a G45, G17, G47 or G34. I like the G45 better than the G19, I prefer the slightly longer grip. A G47 is basically a G17, you can think of it as a G17 with a short dust cover and a G19 length RSA or as a longslide G45. The G34 is nice, I've always liked the Glock longslides.

I would suggest either a Glock 19x or a 48.

If you don't mind concealing a true double stack then 19x.
If you want some slimness but still maintain good muzzle velocity and sight radius the 48. Pair that with an aluminum magazine catch and Shield Arms S15 magazines and it's one sweet carry piece.

Or most of the rest of the 9mm Glocks, sans the Glock 18 (full auto) and Glock 26. (The 26 I am not a big enough fan of to buy.) These are 43, 43X, 48, 19 (2), 17, 19X, 45, 34 (2) and a 17L.

The 48/43X is a really nice size and feel, I agree with the posts above recommending one of those for a next Glock purchase.

Stay safe.

What hand do you shoot with?

I'm left handed and have been shooting / owning Glock since I bought my 1st one, a Glock 21 in 1996. My left hand index finger does everything on the Glock - works the mag release, slide stop, and trigger.

Yes, I'm a lefty and shoot lefty.
I am comfortable using my index finger, but with more and more striker fired pistols having ambidextrous controls I have been converting.
Mag releases can be compressed with your grip on some pistols. That is why I like to switch them.
I know that you can shave off the release to make it less likely.

My G20 gen5- I switched the magazine release and like the ambidextrous slide release.
My Kimber R7 has ambidextrous slide and magazine releases.
My XDM compact has ambidextrous magazine release. The new models have both mag and slide releases.

I wish I could switch my LCPII release. I have turned it into a single shot by hitting the release.... I think the LCP MAX can be switched?
