My Dad has a Remington 700 VS in 223, I already bought him a better trigger as an Xmas present.

I’ve found a Remington 700 aluminum shroud, for a good deal, which would make a good father’s day present.

I was wondering:

Are 700 shrouds caliber specific, or are they interchangeable?

And does the Remington 700 VS, already have an aluminum shroud?

(it would be kind of suspicious if I asked)

Thanks.

No, they're not caliber specific.

No, not that I'm aware of. All three of my 700s have steel or stainless steel bolt shrouds.

I'm kind of intrigued by the three-position safety bolt shroud from PT&G. Could be a functional upgrade if it stops the bolt from opening with the safety engaged.

rather than just get the shroud, just go ahead and get the whole lightweight firing pin assembly. it will come w/ an aluminum shroud.

midway and brownells both have the units - expect to spend about $50 on it.
