Tokarev 7.62x25 i am going to cast my own bullets. Whating to cast mold .311 still learning and need to now if a .309 sizing die will get me where i what to be. Wheel weights is what i will use Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Are you asking if you can use a .309" lube/sizing bullet die?

If yes, the answer is no. The bullet should be at least .310" in diameter so if your bullet mold drops the bullet @3.11" I would not size it at first and see how they shoot. You can always buy a .310" die if you need to.

The way to find out what size you need is to slug your barrel.
What does the slug say? It''ll tell you.

And wheel weights seem too soft to me.
My tok runs 'em 1200 - over 1300 fps (too fast for straight wheel weights).

Wheel weights usually run about 9BHN.
For accurate tok rounds you'll want 15-18BHN

And yes, welcome to the forum.
Some very nice & very knowledgeable people here

I have had good luck with Wheel Weights, I mix approximately 2lbs of wheel weights with 1lb of Hardball from Midwayusa, BRH tests at 14.5 - 15.0, I have loaded 30-30, 30-06, 300AAC,308. I haven't tried it in the 300WinMag yet, but I'm reasonably sure I will have to Gas Check them in order to prevent Barrel Leading. Be sure to use a cleaning agent in the lead, it will fload the impurities to the top as slag, then just remove it. That leaves the lead bright and shiney. I use a 10# pot, and heat the mold on top as the lead is coming up to temperature. Has the mold hot enough that it cuts down a lot of trial time for good flow thru the mold for good bullets. I let them cool until the next day, then size and if needed, Lube.

Good Luck
Dan

He's had them posted in the pay it forward thread for a while & probably one of the nicest people your going to acquaint yourself with. So I'm sure you'll be happy with the arrangements.

If you're powdercoating the wheel weights are probably hard enough, conventional lube? Maybe not. Try a bullet .001 bigger than bore diameter for a good seal, and see if you get leading.
