I have had a few AKs in the past, but didn't have much respect for them. They invariably looked and felt like slapped together pieces of junk, with no apparent pride in workmanship, even if super reliable. Accuracy was always a complaint of mine, as well. I've been an advocate, instead, of the ARs for a long time. Recently, however, I bought a Bulgarian AK variant that I am very impressed with. It is marketed under the brand name Armory, and the model I have is called SSR-85. It is not only solidly and competently put together, but shows a lot of refinement that I've not seen on imported AKs in a long time. Not only completely reliable, but more than acceptably accurate to boot, which is saying a lot for an AK. From a field sitting off-hand position I had no trouble putting every round I fired into a fist sized hole at 100 yards. This is a great improvement over any AK variant import that I've tried in the past. I am sold on this AK variant. The Bulgarians are putting together a carbine of very high quality here. They might be the best of the imported AKs right now.
