I never got a chance to respond to the firestorm I created this morning on my post called "There are ways around the Walmart 3 box limit." I had been out all day, and the thread was already closed.

I did not read every post but more people than not accused me of being greedy, hoarding etc. Let me first state that I have been consistent in not accusing people of hoarding ammo or price gouging. I am quite sick of all the threads bashing the price gougers and "hoarders." You can read my posts and see I have been pretty hard on the people whining because someone is asking too much for ammo or buying too much ammo. I am a firm Capitalist and recognize that, while it is not a perfect system, it is the best system out there bar none.

The reason I bought as much .30-30 ammo as I could yesterday is I actually need it, will most definitely shoot it and have been searching for it several weeks consuming much time and gas in the process. I have been faithfully going to our local Walmart at 7:00 am every Saturday morning and other Walmarts in the towns next to us. .30-30 has not been coming in. I pick up a box or two of 9mm, .40, .38, .357 and other stuff, but I'm pretty set on my handgun calibers, so I don't buy much.

I can only go to Walmart early on Saturday mornings because I am an elementary school teacher and must be at work at 7:00am every day. I live in a small town that is 45 minutes away from Academy and other large sporting goods stores. We have two LGSs in our town, but I refuse to pay the prices they are asking. There is a Cabela's about an hour away, but I can't afford the gas or time to make trips to Cabela's for ammo that most likely will not be there.

I went to a town about 30 minutes away yesterday to visit my mom and went to her local Walmart. This is where they were fully stocked with .30-30. Yes, I took advantage of the situation to the fullest extent possible. After I had bought my three boxes and had the gentleman buy two more for me, I visited my mom and then left to drive to our family farm, which is an hour farther down the road where there is another town with another Walmart. That one had just sold their last box of .30-30, so I called my mom and asked her to go to the one in her town where I had been and buy three boxes for me before they ran out.

So, if you want to accuse me of being a hoarder or greedy, go right ahead. I used Walmart's policy to my advantage. It says each customer is limited to three boxes per day. I was customer one and got my three. The gentleman was customer 2 and got two more. My mom was customer three and got three more. I see guys show up with their wives, and they each buy three boxes. I don't get all worked up. He is a customer. She is a customer. Big deal. Get over it people. It all evens out. There have been many times in all this madness when I was the next one in line and the guy in front of me buys the last box of .38 Special or whatever I was waiting for. Did I cry about it? No, to the contrary, I just chuckled to myself and thought I should have got there a little sooner. It's time for people to put on their big boy or big girl pants and quit pissing and moaning because Timmy has more ammo than you or bought the last box out from under you.

The girl at Walmart told me that, although she would sell me 3 boxes of shotgun shells (which I decided ultimately that I didn't want), I could always wait until her shift ended and the new girl came to Sporting Goods and buy another 3 boxes. Quite a helpful young lady, I thought.

Oh well, some people just can't handle a supply shortage crisis I guess. Crap, you should been here in Hell-A in the 70's when the first oil embargo hit us----I made a small fortune not only buying gas whenever I wanted (with my commercial plates) and selling it from the back of my truck, but I also made two runs into Mexico with my Econoline pick-up (Google it...:D ) and brought back 140 gallons at a time, which I promptly sold for more than 40% more than I paid for it. And this at the ripe olde age of 19.

Capitalism rocks!.....

Wal-Mart had no pistol ammo today and has not for awhile.
Sort of like a 3 unicorn limit.

Can we please not turn this into another thread that exactly mirrors the above referenced.

I agree. I needed to fully explain myself and respond to the people who were blasting me in my original post. By the time I got home tonight, the mods had closed it due to a downward spiral in the posts.

My wife and I share a handgun caliber. My wife and kids and I share 22lr. If I could find the stuff, I'd find a way to get around retail rationing.

That said, my Walmart ammo section has a three dust bunny limit.

What could you use multiple boxes of 30-30 for? Texas has bag limits, don't they? So I don't see you out there killing a lot of wildlife. Not much fun target shooting lever actions, not very accurate. Good enough for hunting, but not MOA like a bolt action.

Does this really concern you? Or actually bother you for some reason? I used to run at least a 20'er thru my 336 on every range trip. Which was once a week. 'MOA' be damned....

Ken70, he owns a weapon in that caliber, and likes to shoot it. Does he really need a better reason?

I'm not always the best shot with my 44 super redhawk, and a much better shot with my 627 PC, but I do love to make noise at the range with those big bores!

As far as your reference to hunting with the 30-30: who cares what he likes to hunt with as long as it works for him? I actually prefer a lever-action since most of my targets are within 150 meters.

Most hunters, prior to heading out into the bush, head to the range a couple times prior to confirm zeros and get comfortable shooting the loads they will be using. Might be prudent to buy a couples boxes of 30-30 ammo for that..

After years of hearing about Walmart's legendary "buying power"; they sure drop the ball when it comes to buying ammo. Maybe it would help their sales if they'd order up a container ship or two of ammo from somewhere in the world. I am sure the Russian mafia would be willing to start emptying out all those cold war bunkers that are filled with ammo.

I think your arrogance in bragging about it plunged that thread, not the mere act itself.

You found a way to get around Walmart's system, so what? If you saw the writing on the wall (and everyone should, 2008 wasn't that long ago) you should have been prepared. I was, why weren't you?

And that goes to everyone complaining out there, hopefully we all learn something from this.

Ohhh now I get it. You neededit. I suppose the rest of us are just looking one more box to build ammo forts with.
