Other than the relatively obvious (bore/cylinder alignment, carryup, lockup, headspace, b/c gap, endplay, off the top of my head), is there any reason not to use a random Ruger Single Six .22 magnum cylinder on a Single Six?
No disagreement Mr. Model, but does that .002 or .001 really make a significant difference? I know it obviously would effect preasure a bit, but enough to mean anything?
But gunmakers have always seemed to think so. Otherwise, they wouldn't waste time & money using two different bore sizes.
The soft lead .22LR bullet is able to slug up somewhat to fit at larger .22 Mag bore.
But the copper jacketed .22 Mag bullet probably has a tougher time swaging down.
It's been my experience that the convertible guns are more accurate with the .22 Mag cylinder then with the .22LR cylinder, so it must have some positive effect of using the correct bore size with them.

Very interesting. I'd heard that, but completely forgotten. Thanks, you saved me some money! I have one that's convertible and one that was sold as a .22LR-only. I'll leave things the way they are.
