Good review. I didn't go through 3 SIG's before falling in love. When I traded into mine, it was love the first time I fired it. My 220 is a recent railed model with a W. German folded slide. It is everything you mentioned in your reveiw. I too noticed a greater cant is needed in a holster to conceal this pistol well.

I'm considered an "old fart" when it comes too knowing 'bout the SIG P220;
no expert, just an old fart as I've owned one for many years. I purchased
my first West German SIG-SAUER .45 caliber P220A in July of 1988; selling
it off around '91 or so to a fellow LEO. On March 31st, 1995 I acquired my
current West German .45 caliber SIG-SAUER P220A. Both, served me very
faithfully during my tour of duty.

I tried too like Glock's, but they NEVER fit me well; always returning to the
SIG P220A. As a matter of fact, I liked it so well that I added a West
German 9m/m P228 too my collection. Both firearms remain on inventory as
we speak~!;) :cool: :D

Got my P220 back in the early '80s. I traded a Desert Eagle .44 auto for it (way too much gun for home protection--unless invaded by a tank).
Love the P220; although, since I got a couple of Colt 1911's it sits in my bedside table at the ready (biggest problem is mine has the old European magazine relase on the bottom).
I do need to take it out the range again, perhaps this Friday.

Very well written article. Thanks so much. I own a 228 and 226 and shoot 1911s for my .45s. I've been tempted to get a 220 many times, but always balk. I think I'm now leaning to keep my eyes open for a used one. Hmmmm... :D

Not many (Used But Not Abused) ones on the market a'round here.:uhoh: Persons that have 'em, tend to keep 'em for long periods
of time.;) I know that I would NEVER get rid of my P220A duty gun;
cuz when I die I have a decree in writing that states if my survivors
don't want it; it is too be returned too the factory for service, and
given its proper place in law enforcement. And, that is on the side
of a troop that otherwise couldn't afford this type pistol.:cool: :D

My P220 is one of 3 SIGs I own. It's not my everyday carry, but last week when I shot the requal for my CHL renewal I used the P220.

SWMBO likes her Springer, but I'll take the P220 any day. SIGs are a professional's pistol.

Regards,
Rabbit.
