Sig P220 Legion SAO - 5" Bbl/ 10mm or .45 ACP - Grail Pistol?

I've wanted one of those off and on since the first 220 SAO Legions came out in .45 (rented one when deciding if I wanted a 226 SAO later, very nice), then they had the 10mm elite Hunter as an option.

Ultimately the even very nice SAO trigger isn't anywhere near as good (for me, personal preference) as the .45 and 10mm 1911s I already have serving that role.

That said, I would still snatch up a 10mm Legion SAO if I found a good deal, no question.

Wish they'd make a 10mm 227 Legion SAO with the 4" "SAS" barrel, I'd buy that tomorrow.

.45 because God and John Moses Browning meant it that way!!

seriously though the P220 is a .45 first and foremost.....maybe a 9mm (which came first of course). There are better 10mm’s IMO. I just feel like a P220 should be a .45. Cause........REASONS......that’s why. :)

Folks say that about the 1911 as well, because of John By God Moses Browning.

Yet my most accurate 1911 is a 10mm (and a RIA for Pete's sake) and my favorite to shoot is a lightweight 9mm. A pleasure in the hand and doesn't beat on you like aluminum .45s do.

Honestly, none of my .45s get much range time any more. Saves ammo I guess :)

You have as much right to be wrong as anybody else :p

Seriously I though I am kidding. I do prefer the P220 in .45. 1911s are fun in any caliber but I do prefer them in .45.

God help me and cleanse my sins in 10mm I think.......Jesus this pains me.....I believe.......and this is really hard.........but I think Glock does a damn good job in 10mm. :(. I’m gonna go say a few Hail Mary’s now and maybe take a shower.

I'm going to blaspheme worse. Last time I brought out the .45 I shot my beloved 1911s and the wanted to verify some new sights on my Glock 21 and had to stop after 3 shots and marvel, "where's the recoil?", and that particular Glock trigger is the best stock poly-striker trigger I've ran across (and I've tried em all). That gun just shoots, and shoots smooth, outshot my VBob that day.

Pop a 10mm barrel in it and, yeah, Glock does the big calibers eight. If your hands are big enough to handle the grip.

Personally, my grail gun(s) are those that I've just HAD to have, not cause of capacity or weight. I drooled from afar too long, now I can slobber all over it.

Nice looking. I studied the P226 Legion SAO but didn't like the @#$%* straight trigger. I see the P220 has a normal curved trigger. But the main turnoff was the invisible slide stop; I am so used to the prominent lever on a 1911 or CZ. My German P226 is a reliable house gun but I could not whip it into line for IDPA with mandatory slide lock reloads.

I don't know why the flat triggers are so popular now. I don't care for it either.

I actually like the flat trigger over the curved Sig ones, and the small slide stop is a blessing on my 226 since the Legion Sig's are the only ones that hold open on empty for me with my grip. Just gave up on my others.

Sure I have to overhand it instead of the nice stops on my 1911s and X9, but I also overhand all my plastics so it's not a huge deal.
