I was at an outdoor range recently in the middle of the week and had it to myself. (A benefit of being retired.) I took my time shooting a Single-Six in 32 H&R, a Blackhawk in 41 magnum, and an Old Army cap and ball. Clearly a Ruger single action day.
On the way home I realized how enjoyable the session had been. No younger people with their Glocks blowing off 15 rounds in three seconds. No brass ejected all over the place to be policed. The aroma of black powder. Even some decent targets at 25 yards.
I've long known single action revolvers are my favorite handguns. That's when the words of Obi Wan in Star Wars came back to me: "An elegant weapon...for a more civilized age."
I'm sure that's not an original observation but it seems appropriate given my preferences.
