Rifle cartridges you dislike for no real reason

The problem is that 6.8spc was around for such a short time that I actually have no reason to dislike it. I have legitimate reasons (mostly) for my other dislikes. And don't worry, I have a thick skin!
It’s still around. Surprisingly, that’s about the only ammo I’ve been able to get in any real quantity in the past year and a half. I’ve got a pair of rifles chambered in 6.8 SPC and I’d have to put it up near the top of my favorite cartridges. I can say this for sure, if I could only have one rifle for everything I do, it would be my 16” 6.8 SPC.

Can't answer that question because I never shot a caliber I did not like. Of course I don't own and will not buy any of the latest wildcats that are marketed for sales like the 6.5C. Now if I was a long range shooter out past 600 I would be checking it out...ymmv

.280 AI…hmmm I’ll say anything “AI.”

They’re all universally lauded by saying, “It almost matches the velocity/power of”… another cartridge (or two or three) that’s already commercially out there.

6.5 Manbun  That’s funny!

Stay safe.

That’s me.

As I had posted before, I’m a 7 Mag fan, simply because it will do most anything and everything a mid range cartridge should do, and does it well. I don’t understand the hatred simply because it has a belt. But hey, that’s why we have a bazillion choices.

I’m not going to extend, add, blow out shoulder angles, get special reamers and dies and go though all the gyrations necessary to almost get the performance of an off the shelf round. But, it’s your time and nickel. Knock yourself out

......the 30 Carbine:rofl:

Besides, I load and shoot the 32-20 and the carbine is sort of a rimless 32-20. It would be hard to like one and hate the other. The only reason I don't own a carbine is I don't think the new ones are worth the money.

I wouldn't say I totally hate them but I dislike anything Short Magnum and Most magnums, though I do have two custom rifles in .257 Wby Mag and 300 Win Mag. ;)

It's real interesting to me how the human mind works. I don't have much use for magnums either, but like you, I do own one. Go figure. It has a wood stock and I think it's pretty.

.308

Nothing wrong with it, it's not great at anything and it's not terrible at anything, Toyota Corolla of the rifle world. I've had several I've sold and will probably have more..... that I'll probably eventually sell too. For most of my purposes, I prefer 6.5 Creed or 6mms, if I want more than that I want more than .308, .30-06 is the next significant step up if you reload.

Out here in Idaho, a "6-point" is a really nice mule deer buck. I've never killed a 6-point myself (my largest have been 4-points) but one year my wife killed a huge "6-by-7" (6X7) mule deer buck with her UGH, 243 Winchester.:barf:
:D
I'm amazed that pipsqueak of a round didn't bounce right off.......

I just thought about it, and I think I have at least one example of 80% of the cartridges mentioned in this thread..... Including the ones I personally don't like:rofl:

.223, .243, .257 Roberts, 6.5x55, .270, 7mm RemMag, .30-30, .308, .300 Weatherby Mag, .35 Rem, .45/70… I have so much caliber overlap in my safe it looks like shingles on a roof… o_O

Stay safe.

Let me guess the .300 Weatherby Mag a midlife crisis?

It's nice to have a roof over ones head though!

Dislike may be a little strong but:
1. 17 HMR - The first time I traveled with the group that I Prairie Dog hunt with they talked about this cartridge so much that I almost stopped and bought one. The wind was blowing where we went and they put their 17's away before an hour was passed.
2. The Weatherby's - Just because they are overblown.
3. The WSSM's - just because
4. The Creedmoors's - Because of the hype.

No fan of .30-30, .45 Colt .45-70
Dislike the look of rimmed cartridges.

For cool looking rounds.......

like the looks of 7mm Rem Mag, 6.5 Grendel and .35 Remington

Nah, my Dad bought this German Mark V back in the late 70’s. It has a Weatherby scope with the adjustments in the mounts.

He never fired it.

I also haven’t fired it, nothing I’ll ever hunt needs all that horsepower.

He also gave me an unfired 700 BDL 7mm Rem Mag… but it’s left handed so I’ll never shoot it, either.

Many years ago I had to sell a Savage 99F .308 he gave me, I was broke and it paid the rent for a couple of months. He still is hurt I sold it all those years ago, so even though I’ll probably never use them I think I’ll keep these two rifles for a while. :)

Stay safe.
