Rifle in handgun caliber?

I ran a box of 38 specials through the K77 today. It does everything I could ask of it with open sights. I am very happy with it so far with one exception. I had some feed issues a couple times. Not sure what was causing it but the base of the next shell in the mag would get hung on the second shell down in the mag. It may have been me shoving the shells in too far when reloading the mag but not sure. My magazine holds 5 shells plus one in the chamber if needed.
I will pick up a box of .357s tomorrow and see how they do.
I want to thank bpb for an excellent recommendation! Now to find a scope for it!

Matt

Placed a used Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited in 45 colt on layaway at my local fun store. Can't wait to pick it up. My father also has one in 45 colt and 357 mag. Still looking for an elusive 41mag lever gun. Everytime I see one for sale here, I'm too late and the gunbroker prices are just too expensive. They always seem to sell for 800-850+ depending on condition. Gotta pay to play though.

New member, just joined primarily to look for help on a possible new rifle purchase. I am wanting a rifle with a little more behind it than my Ruger 10/22. My gun club only allows rifles in regular handgun calibers. I would like something to mostly target shoot at the 75-100 yd range for fun but have decent stopping power at that range. I know very little about what is available and worth spending a few bucks on. I know for that distance I will need a scope since my eyes aren't what they used to be. I don't want to spend a ton of cash either.
I was thinking in the under $500 range for the gun. Yeah, I know I'm cheap!
I am thinking I want fairly consistent 4" groups at 100 yds. I really don't know if this is a reasonable possibility. This is standing position, no other support.
I look to you guys for direction.

Thanks, Matt
Ive got a marlin camp 9 9mm caebine that fits the bill nicely.

.357 Marlin is the way to go you can load it cheap and with cast bullets in 150-200gr good out to 150-200 meters will drop a dear if you do your job.

Google Jerry Lester .357 and see what a .357 rifle can do.

I got an 1894FG in .41 mag a few years ago. Very hard to find. I was looking for one with a straight grip stock. They only made it for a few years, and I could never find one, so I ordered one of the new ones with the pistol grip stock and it is a very nice gun. Shoots great with jacketed bullets, not so great with cast, at least the ones I have tried so far. Anyone had luck getting a microgrove barrel to shoot cast lead?

Rifle in Handgun Cal.

NEF makes a good little gun the Handi -Rifle & it is offered in several handgun calibers like 357 ,44 mag, & 500 S&W Magnum iam getting the 500 S&W Magnum check them out They all have 22" barrels

The Braztech Rossi Model 92 lever gun is in the 500 buck range and they chamber for .357 ,38 special, 44 Mag,44special, 44-40, 454 Casull 45 Colt, and 45 Colt.

They ain't to shabby for the under 500 price. They ain't Winchesters,Marlins, or the fancy Italian clones, but they ain't 700 bucks either!

Mine was 100% reliable, with 3 different home cast bullet handloads plus factory ammo, and accurate to boot.

It would be well worth the time and effort to try to shoot one, once you did you'll see why most that own them like 'em!

Maybe outside your budget, but the Beretta CX4 Storm is a lot of fun, plus it will use the same mags as the same caliber pistol (there are two versions in 9mm - one for the 90 series, and one for the PX series).
I have one in .40, and it's a blast.

I inherited from my dad a late sixties/early seventies M94 Win in 44 mag. Shoots great with jacketed stuff. From my little brother, I inherited way too early a 94 Marlin in 44mag and the "partnership" 92 Winchester in 357 that he and I had built up back in the Rifleman days. All are fun, all are pretty darn accurate, and all make nice companion pieces for the similar calibered handguns. (OM Super Blackhawk, 29-2, and NM Blackhawk)

M1 carbine. Ruger makes a Blackhawk in that caliber and it is within the power ratings of 357/44.

These types of guns are my favorite types of guns. They are the best of both worlds.

I have a Rossi 92 carbine in .357 which is, for all intents and purposes, "my favorite gun". I love the heck out of this thing. Contrary to what was posted earlier on this page, my Rossi is of the highest quality and rivals or even surpasses other lever guns I have handled. This is probably because it is very early (70's or late 60's) production - I think I understand that the current models have a little less polish. So if you are in the market, I'd say the older you can find the better. The Rossi's are like fine wine, apparently ;)

A carbine in .357 is by no stretch of the imagination under-powered. No matter what model you choose, I can vouch for that.

Basmntdweller,

It looks as though some of the crew here didn't notice that you'd already made your decision! ;)

You've made a very good choice. I've got a number of Ruger bolt guns and like all of 'em.

In fact your pic and FMJMIKEs got me so stirred up, I might drive over to Sportsmans Warehouse and see if they have any...so far they haven't.
